Named appropriately????? Are you kidding???? There is nothing touring about a mustang. Please.... The only Ford that deserves the name GT is the GT40.
the grand touring in which the Mustang model shares doesnt mean sports car. usually grand touring means what the above poster said, not a fullout sports car, but a budget performance car with comforts such as a backseat.

After having seen it happen many times, firsthand, from inside both cars. The GT ALWAYS took it off the line, us americans like to call that torque. thats why you buy a v8, lol. the 99-04 GT's didnt have beans for high end power, after 95-100 or so mph, it was just a very slow climb to the governer at 142mph. the s2000, on the other hand, doesnt really "come alive" until the upper rpm's, so it always took it from a roll. after i flew the GT backwards and spinning off a cliff and into an oak tree, those races came to an abrupt end.

Kinna funny cause I'd raced a 98-99 GT not too long ago on the highway and it lost big time, it was at least 3-4 cars behind with 60mph as a stand off... I mean I wasn't so surprise that it'll lose but at that time i thought that a GT can pull faster than that, that was my first encounter/race with a GT. I have yet to race it at a stop, probably find out how the race ends come this spring but I know I'll win anyhow. Any thoughts guys?

yeah, I mean, ive raced a 99 GT manual w/ 3.73 gears and full exhaust from a 5mph roll (stoplight, not sure if we were goign to go or not)

I have invidia, and AEM V1, he couldnt get away. he barely nosed ahead as he was shifting to third, but I closed the gap due to revs. we shut down at about 80 and I was pulling hard on him

could have been driver skill, but we both seemed pretty even (i am not the greatest, nor did he seem to be. and traction was not an issue)

From the get go he'll probably take you but high end? no way... Wait 'til that vtec sings and you get to redline, should kept on going 'til it got to 100mph to see how it ended.

yeah if we were going from a dead stop then he would have taken me,at least from the dig, but since we were already rolling I feel I had teh upperhand. btw, it wouldnt have been a good idea for us to keep going...kinda was a 35 zone...
