Yesterday I raced a MR2 Turbo on the freeway starting at 60mph and shut down about 115mph. The road was clear no cars were in front of us. I took him by a few cars. His car was fixed up but I don't know what he had in it. I heard his BOV and he was calling me out so i went for it. I thought i was going to lose since his car was pretty nice and sounded like he had engine work but I beat him by a few cars
He was embarrassed so he asked for another run and same results.
I have a ap2 with intake, test pipe and exhaust.

He had a down pipe and boost controller..
Beat me by 3 cars.. But I did get it out the hole and held it off until the top of 3rd gear.. But once it started spooling that little bastard rolled out..

I owned a 93 MR2 Turbo a few years back. It had a full 3' exhaust, apexi intake, hks fcd, greddy boost controller @16psi, and gutted cats. It dyno'd at approx 200rwhp and 225rwtq.
Curiously enough, a good freind of mine bought a s2k after i had owned it for a few years. It was a stock berlinetta ap2 i believe. Well, inevitably we ended up running them. I thought i would dust that s2k....turned out we were almost exactly even. We didn't go from a dig...just from a couple of rolls. Pretty much nose to nose all the way to triple digits.
Fast forward to today....i had sell the mr2 to get through college.....now guess what i have......a 2004 sebring silver s2k
My mr2 felt alot torquier than s2k.....but i think the s2k is deceptively fast.
