Default AP1 vs AP2

Found this old video when going over my youtube channel videos..

Stock AP1 with coilovers and wheels only with passenger vs my intake (fipk at the time) and test pipe AP2..

My shifts are slow because stock pressure plate and flywheel.. Meanwhile the ap1 shifts are killer..

We went from 20~ to about 80/90mph, before calling it quits..

We have run multiple times when there was no passenger and i always edge him out.. that was just a spur of the moment run for fun..

nice race but the ap1 had some things going against it though and did fairly well considering he had the airbox off(which people claim makes you a tad bit slower), plus a passenger, and wheels that more than likely slow you down unless they are legit lighter wheels vs an ap2 with a test pipe(which really helps free up the restriction and especially helps from a roll to top end) and a legit intake. i think you 2 would go at it together without the passenger and if he puts back on his airbox. the other thing are the wheels they might be much more heavier than the stocks on the ap1 which could also slow him down too but not bad from the ap1s part.

just asking,

why does removing the air box hinder performance?

I don't know every ap2 that I have raced, I either beat them or we were pretty much even. Have never lost to a ap2 yet...

Removing the lid from the air box allows more air to come in contact with the filter from the engine bay. Engine bay air is warmer and warmer air steals hp from the engine.
