Default ap1 vs e36 m3

so i found out today that my old co worker got a 97 m3 awhile ago. found him on myspace lol. so we went to hang out. imo the e36 m3 coupe is one of the most beautiful cars ever made heh. i was sooooo close to getting one when i got my s. at my old job we got a m3 trade in. 97 5sp silver 80k miles. coulda had it for 9k but decided i wanted something newer. and to go to the next level in tuning with those cars is big bux. (turbo = $8k ) . maybe get one later . SO i was admiring his car and we decided to run. went to a secluded road that my homies and i always race on.

i have my gears, test pipe and a cold air.
he has a afe intake, active autowerke exhaust no cat. conforti software.

we ran 3 times.
first run he got a car on me but in 2nd and 3rd i started closing the gap. when we shut off almost through 4th i was just behind his door. through 4th gear i was there wasent gaining or losing from that spot. second run i managed to stay by his rear wheels through 1st and 2nd. when i hit 3rd started slowly passing him. this time when we shut off he was at my rear bumper. 3rd run was like the 2nd but he beat me by about a fender.

im cool with the results. dont know what e36 m's really run because the numbers ive seen have been all over the place.

With his mods vs your mods, those results sound about right. Pretty much a driver's race.

It is the same when stock for stock too. I raced a buddy's stock e36M3 a few times back when I was totally stock, and the results were always the same...dead even.

yea. we should be going at it again in a few weeks.
ima finally get my exhaust T1R, and hes getting pulleys and a i think a p&p m50 intake manifold.

Eww...that manifold is really going to help him a good bit. He'll probably pull a car on you once he installs that.

the M50 manifold, it a BIG gain on the S52 motors.

generally its a driver race with the edge going to the s2k under 80 or so and the nod going to the M3 above 80. the S52 pulls strong on the hwy.

the E36 M3 responds to mods very well. I/IM/E/shark 230whp/230tq. with those mods+ cams 240-250whp. mods are also ALSO alot cheaper.
