Default ap1 vs. rx8

2000 s with 60,000 mi, only performance mod is AEM CAI. i am coming home from my girlfriends house and a red rx8 pulled up beside me. we didnt honk or anything but i dropped it into second at 47mph (ahhh perfect ). we ran through second and third gear and i pulled about a car and a half. i was suprised, we left at EXACTLY the same time and he had an aftermarket exhuast... i was kind of thinking i was going to be beaten... oh well, anotha one bites the dust

I was driving my buddy's EP3 with i/h/e/reflash and an rx-8 was kept trying to race me. I didnt really want to but he was strting to bug me so I gave it a go. I was surprised that my buddy's car held a whole car length all the way til we shut down at 120. It was a 6spd but they arent that fast.

After all is said, I would still love to have one if gas prices wasnt a factor. They are amazing around the cones.

the last generation rx-7 actually werent all that great. Stock they were awesome, 50:50 great power band etc. However once you mod, it was different story. Run a lil lean, some detonation, boom, you needed a new motor. The life on those motors werent that great either.

What it comes down to is tuning and if you can't do it, then the motors look like garbage. My friend back on Okinawa after 4.5 years of about 425~450whp the 13B finally decided to say sayonnara. There is just way too much internet gossip dissing the rotaries when really it comes down to people that supposedly can tune, can't and motors pop.
