The speed3's power/torque is limited by a boost controller in 1st and 2nd gears... It cannot achieve full-boost until 3rd gear (some electrical nanny keeps it down). Its already a torque monster, and without this precaution, a LOT of people would get into trouble from a dig if they had full boost (traction is already an issue).

I ran one when I was NA (VAFCII, 4.57 gears, cat-back exhaust, intake) I took one up til around 100, I got a 1-2 car jump from the start (RWD launch vs. FWD, traction limited), and he was coming hard, starting around 90mph. I think their 3rd gear is SUPER tall.

We did another run, from a 35 roll (him brake-boosting 3rd, me in the fat part of 2nd gear), and he TOASTED me. Once those things hit 3rd gear, if you do not already have a car, you will be seeing tail lights mighty quickly (assuming you are NA... gears and all).

The ONLY mods the car I ran had was a CAI, and an open dump tube (not internally gated anymore).

yea the guy with his friend pulled up beside me and my gf and gave me the "oh im going to destroy you look". she said get him baby and it was a mandatory win at that point(cant let the lady down). My only mod at that point was only a drop in K&N.

I've raced 5+ now and from 0mph you should be able to get a good lead and keep it. The faster the roll the better advantage he has, get him from a dig and launch strong, he will be sad in the pants.

If the Speed3 was RWD it would be a bad machine. AWD would be to heavy, kinda like the Speed6. RWD FTW!

FYI - If you run a Speed6 and he isn't scared to dump his clutch he will have the advantage over the S2k from 0MPH. The faster the roll the better advantage the S2k has. That may sound odd but that is what I have seen in my races with Speed3s and Speed6s. Either way you should win, if you know how to drive and he isn't too moded.

LOL...you need to pick up the pace. You evidently haven't looked at this thread:

WisconsonS2k with a 13.64; VersionJDM (aka Johnny Sack) with a 13.57...hell, here is a Bimmer driver who pulled a 13.66 and the ap1 wasn't even his:

Tell your friend to get a Mazdaspeed CAI. You seriously get about 20+whp from replacing the shitty stock intake.
