Maybe it was because the top was down. I know the '06 VQ engines run 296hp in the G35. Not sure why I lost then... Time for a dyno check maybe?
Driver check?

JK...could've just been a bad day. I pulled one the other day pretty convincingly from a stop. On the highway I've never had trouble with them especially in auto trim.

The Z is a more worthy opponent IMHO

Although the newer G35's have more hp (298) the torque dropped so overall they're not faster. I think it was Infiniti's marketing to show people that the car has more HP, because these days everything publicized is HP this HP that

No and neither does the '05 models. They were discontinued in '04...To many customers complained about the brake dust the Brembo's caused. I guess not for your everyday driver.

I have an '04 with the Brembo's, and 3 days after I clean the rim's spotless, there on their way to being dirty again. I can see why people complained...But if you wanna talk about stopping power! Ah man its awesome!

You need to learn to drive better :-) You should've pulled him even if he had a manual. (and this is coming from a G35 coupe owner).
A G35 got you by at least 600lbs (they are around 3400 vs 2800 for an AP2). Maybe more. At 100MPH you should have caught even if he did get the jump on you.

Yes I agree that the G should've never been outfront in the 1st place...The S2000 is far superior down low...but the highway is where the race between the two would be closer. I think the G has a bit of an advantage over a stock S2000 on the highway. Past 115 or so, I'd have to give the edge to the G. But who races past 120 anymore anyways...

The AP2 should have been at 120mph alot faster though. I have driven an 04 G35 (with the "sport" package) pretty hard. It seemed really sluggish to me. Compared to my AP1 and definitely against an AP2.

AP2 alot faster?? What are you talking about...that S in the vid has I/E, Clutch delay valve removed, suspension work, removed tire out the trunk...running aginst a bone stock G35 with 2 15 inch subs in the back..Plus the G had a passanger. Not to mention 95% of s2000 owners wish they could shift 1/2 that fast.

When I 1st bought my G35 (coming from a low-mid 13 sec. AP1) I thought to myself the same thing. The G definitely "feels" more slugish, but that because it is. But im talking about the highway. Where all that 3.5 comes out.
