Whats up guys, not a regular, but you know the drill.

Lemme start with the race. Rolling on I-75 the other afternoon, im always just cruising seeing if perhaps something worth time will pass by. Its been a while since ive caught a random run, but tonight was hot. Approaching HID'S in the rear view, its my big brother, the 350pee. This one is SLAMMED on nice rims with a nice exhaust. I speed up a bit to start pacing this guy seeing if anything will happen, as i approach him i see a cop car near us so i just keep behind him for a while.

So here we go, the cop car pulls off the next exit and i get up somewhat on the 350's ass. Were going aboouutt, atleast 90-95, i put my car in fifth as i see him start to give gas, he mashes the throttle and i lay into mine quickly having to get off about 3 times as i would have nailed him n the ass.

I pull of to the next lane and wait till the road clears up again. Rolling 3rd gear now, he looks over and sets up. Bang, we hit it, i easily put atleats a car on him and through 5th gear maintain my distance, not pulling to hard tho. We pull over and after some chat we agree to go rolling first. He mis shifts the first time. I give him a NO NO nod and asks if he wants to go one last time. Agreed. I put about 2 cars on him and got off as soon as i through 4th.

I have Intake/Exhaust/Gears/Clutch.

Now, this all strikes me as odd because lemme say all i do is read debates on these forums as to who is faster and where bewteen the S and 350.

I have to add i havent found ONE 350z to beat me and i have raced ATLEAST 12 350z. Ones with mad work all motor, and some stock. Even without my gears, I WOULD WALK 350z's. I just dont get it, im still here waiting for someone to ATLEAST give me a run. I have yet to even get pulled on the freeway!???? ANYONE IN SOUTH FLORIDA wanna shut me up?

 

Well the gears obviously make a huge difference. Other members have video of puting 5 car lengths on stock S's just from gears. So, being that the Z and S accelerate about the same, this is not too unusual. Also, depending on your intake exhaust setup, you may have another 10 hp or so over stock in the respect.

I'm actually rather surprised that you could only put a car on him from a third gear roll and then pull no further. I don't know how the gears benefit the AP2 at higher speeds, but my geared Ap1 would continue to pull on stock S's and Z's through each gear.

The AP2 w/4.57 gears will top out at 135 instead of stock 151. Also each gear will be shorter and have lower top speed...

Stock 3rd is 78(7.3), 4th is 99(5.7), 5th is 122(4.6), and 6th is 151(3.8).

Compare this to a 4.57 geared ap2...3rd is 70(8.1), 4th is 89(6.4), 5th is 109(5.2), and 6th is 135(4.2).

So, if you were to race a stock AP2 from 109 and up you would lose b/c of his gearing advantage and your hitting your gear peak at 135. Although you've had some success against Z's it looks like your biggest advantage is from a stop, not a roll. Only pulling 1 car w/gears intake, exhaust is not much. You are wise to stop the race when you finish 5th, because both stock S's and Z's would pull significantly from that point forward.

Well lets see, for starters, the 350z had ATLEAST an exhaust, so it should be moving a little better then normal. To head in another direction, OK YEA, u seen Wisconsin roll 5 cars out from a roll on a STOCK S at about 5 mph, sorry buddy but to me, that just dosent qualify for being able to state the fact that gears make a 5 CAR DIFFERENCE.

And like i stated before, If MORE THEN 10 350Z'S (some with i/h/e, some with ecu's, some with other shit) AND NOT ONE to pull me, buddy, believe me my mods have done more then enough. I post one experience and u think u know my car. Wrong.

Ill put some serious money on a run with any stock 3 or s of g. Il run for money even if they have some mods.

Oh and for the record, aboouutt 2 weeks ago, i raced an ap1, he was lowered, exhaust, intake, i had a passenger and he wa solo, rolling 3rd gear roll, buddy got WALKED.

Anyone on this forum who has seen me run knoes whats up. Like i stated in the original, if you or anyone thinks they can beat me with there S G OR 3, Hit me up, im ALWAYS down to eat some "muscle"

 

when ever you want some of a 350z or an AP1 just let me know I'm in tampa and so is my boy with the 350z. So be ready to put your money where you mouth is.

A Z with Intake, Exhaust, Plenum and equal driver will walk away.

One with a 3.9 FD would be even more interesting.

I'm in miami and i have two friends with Z's who might take you up on your offer. What color was the one you raced? Anyway one of them has I/H/E with no cat and the other has I/H/E with no cat, pullies and gears but it's an auto. (still quick) PM me and maybe we can meet up. By the way where did you get your gears put in? I've got a set but not sure where to install them.
