Default AP2 vs C6 Vette

On the way home from dinner with my girl, we are cruising along a 4 lane road divided by a nice median (top down, of course). No one on the road for a few miles, and it's a nice long straight road with only a gentle uprising hill about a 1/2 mile ahead. Anyway, we are cruising and notice a c6 Vette up ahead driving next to a c5 vette convert. I think to myself 'oh cool, 2 generations of vettes cruising together, that's awesome...where are my AP1 brethren?' So we get behind the C6 vette and he starts to gun it. The convertible C5 owner is older and has a kid with him and looks over and smiles, I give the thumbs up, then switch lanes in front of him and decide that I'm going to take on the C6. No, he was not a z06, just a regular C6.

C6 stages next to me @ around 65-70 mph and I'm in 3rd gear, he goes first, I quickly follow and begin pulling away. I shift into 4th and pull more, redline 4th, shift into 5th and keep pulling til I'm a whole car length and 1/2 ahead of him, then see a car up ahead pull out and shut down. He goes flying by me and then hits the breaks. We go through a stop light and he looks over and smiles at me, we both give thumbs up and I'm grillin it big time as we go on our separate ways.

This is the kind of kill I love. Not just b/c it was a C6 vette and I was topdown with a passenger, but b/c we were both so cool about it and not hotheads or assholes to each other like I've noticed certain other owners are (cough mustang cough), even when it was over with. I'm not saying all of those owners are assholes, I know they aren't, I'm just saying in my experiences vette owners seem to be the coolest about racing. Much respect to the vette community, they are great.

Nice! You must be pushing some pretty good power to take on a c6 vette!

marginal compared to today's turbo guys. I'm pushing slightly over 400whp. I used to think it was fast too, til I started seeing everyone else's numbers on here...now it just doesn't feel as fast lol. But thanks anyway

Is it your DD? Also, are you constantly having to re-adjust and mess with it to keep it running right? Just curious. I'd love to go turbo, but really afraid of reliability issues. Great run, BTW!!!

Nice kill, your car sounds strong. Lol and not all Mustang guys are bad, I know a lot of cool Mustang owners.

Leo...I'll say this the best way I can without trying to be an ass. But I myself do not race all cars. I mean when I had my Cobra and a Civic pulled up wanting to race, I wouldnt always bite. Lol I used to run race gas w/91 so why waste my gas on someone I will most likely destroy. granted there are sleepers, but most of the time its just kids wanting to see your car run.

PS..Im the type of guy that cruises in the rmiddle lane on the freeway at the speed limit. Im sure there are cars going by wondering what the hell is this Z06 or Cobra doing 65 for
