today this Audi S4 wagon:



sped up behind me, then pulled up next to me at the light and shook his head in disapproval. he then opened his window and told me "you can go first since you think you got it." after the light turns green and we get around the traffic, we open it up. he starts about 2 car lengths in front of me. i start the run in 2nd gear at 7500 rpm. i catch up by the end of 3rd and i'm a car in front of him. we stay at this distance until about 105mph then he starts to pull even. by the time we're at 125 he's pulled a car on me and i shut down. i pulled next to him and gave him the thumbs up and told him it was a good run (i didn't wanna be an asshole like him). we both acknowledged it was a good run and that he won and we parted ways.

this is the 4th good run i've had without my 4.77s (theyre sitting in my room waiting to be installed!!!!). i wonder how it'd have turned out if the 4.77s were in...

EDIT: also, my top was down and windows were down. i'm guessing it was about 68 degrees outside.

EDIT 2: AH and i just remembered the entire run was uphill (Randolph road toward New Hampshire Ave for those who are familiar with the Silver Spring area)

EDIT 3: AND i just remembered i had a 150lb passenger.

 

so what your saying is, in more optimal conditions you could have beaten him! Nice run nonetheless

The gears wouldn't have helped you much at all. I've ran my friend many times and we have the same mods except he has 4.77 (AP1) and we're always even. Sometimes he pulls on me, sometimes I pull him. He usually gets me when we first start and then I reel him in.

Top Down definitely killed you up top.

you also have a fresh ap2! which should be making 10-15whp more than an early ap1 and have the better gearing of an AP2. I would argue that you would beat your friend (who is it btw?) badly if he didnt have the 4.77's...

Earlier years were v6 TT, later models were N/A V8, right?

 

he showed what s4 it was. That is the 4.2L V8 with 340 horses.

 

also i saw some ugly-colored Brembos behind some ricey BBS wheels.

 

S4 Avant specs out about the same as an S2000.

~5.5 to 60mph and ~14mph quarter mile.

I really wish they'd bring over the RS4 Avant.
