Briefly said, I received two tickets on the way to work Monday and I was quite upset after that.... I wasn't even in the mood to go to work anymore after that.

Anyways, I went to the hardware store later in the day. As I was driving down a big 2 lane street. And there was a 93ish black Cougar with white decals along the front windshield tailgating me. Then all of a sudden he pulls real hard to the left lane.

As he passes, I see white decal along the entire car and chrome hubcaps. It's not even rice....way beyond that. It looked like he took his car to the tattoo parlor and tattoed his car with white thorns all around.

We both pulled up to the red light and I knew what's going to happen next. The light turned green and he got some tire and floored it all the way down the street swerving left and right btw. cars. I accelerated at a normal pace.

The funny part is, I pulled up to him again at the next light and realized there were 2 or 3 passengers in the car and they were all jumping, laughing, and clapping. The front passenger gave me a smirk. At that moment I was like. "DOES THIS GUY THINK HE BEAT ME???" He's carrying +400lbs and he wants to race me?

Anyways, that probably made his day! He's probably bragging in the Cougar forums that he destroyed a yellow Honda 4-banger.... It's ironic that some ppl. can always amuse themselves with something like this...it wasn't even a win....

Reasons I didn't want to race: 1) Did not want to launch car because I glazed my clutch pretty bad numerous times already. 2) I was quite upset after the 2 tickets I received that day and I didn't want anymore 3) I wasn't in a rush to get to the hardware store.

One of my coworkers told me they were V8? My guess is that it's a V6 at the most.

man, you did the right thing. if you have to weave in and out of cars, then you definitely shouldn't race! IF racing is to be done on the streets, at least have the intelligence to have some open road. good job!

oh...and about that "racer"...just remember, you can't prevent the stupidity of others!!!!!

Doesn't matter if it is V8 or V6. I think some old ones might have been V8's, but not sure. ??? But I know they are all easily beatable by our car at full fury. Assuming he's in stock form (other than the stickers and pretty shiny rims) you'd whomp him. I don't know if there is a cougar forum, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was going on about it.

That's how these kill stories get in there.... like a celica GTS beating an S2000 or some shiz like that. Either that or people can't drive.

Cougars do not exist in V8!!

It is a V6 FWD,which should never be able to beat you.....
Good thing you did not race him, that shows you got class, don't race just anyone.....

NEW cougars don't exist in V8's. Old cougars came with 8 cylinders. I think they quit making V8 cougars a long time ago though.

Don't you need to launch the GTS properly to get a 14.6 1/4 mile too?

I love GTS, they are great cars, but they are just as torqueless as the S2K. Besides, ah...so...only S2K drivers mess up? GTS drivers are better drivers?

1993 Cougars XR7and Thunderbirds SC had the supercharged 3.8L V6 as the top of the line option. These motors made lots of torque, capable of high 14's-low 15's if driven correctly. Sorry to hear about the two tickets.
