man, i had such a good day today, and wasnt going to post the stuff, cause all the crybaby magazine exactness racers will say that its impossible. but i had to, this day owns all days.
so im on the way to our weekly 10 second meet. and im driving up hualapai, and im rollin about 50, well, at the light ahead, i see an 02 ram air firebird. i smile, and am expecting a race, well, as im slowing i see him looking in his sideview at me. well as im slowing the light turns green, dammit! im starting prob 2 cars back, but im rolling already, so to whos advantage you decide. well, he stands on it hard, i drop 1st and VTEC comes on hard and almost instantly im back in second, just as he shifts 2nd im hitting 3rd, and motorin on by, man he was surprised. we stayed in it till 100, and he stayed about 1 car back the whole way. so by now im shakin.
so i leave the meet, approx 2 hours later. happy having enjoyed the company of good homies.
i hop on the 215. and am headed towards henderson, to see an old friend. what do i see, a maroon carrera with fikse wheels, and a GT3 wing. but its a plain ole carrera no turbs. to me, this is the same as a ws6 camaro, 330 or so hp, and well, fast, but be honest, not that fast. so hes rippin up traffic behind me, and im assured hed play. so he sides up at about 70 and nails it, with this huge grin. so then, when he backs off, i roll up, again at 70, and punch off. i back off, and he catches up, hes lookin pretty hard, and he leans up and turns off the radio. so i know its on. im a bit worried, but im cocky so theres no way we are not gonna race. well, we cruise another 2 miles or so in heavy traffic, and when the 215 opens to 3 lanes, im ready. i get in the middle lane to see which side he wants. he gets behind me and is creepin like a gator, LOL, im not lettin him play smart guy and have the jump, so i bang 3rd and stand on it, he was listenin close, as i saw his front end lift as soon as i shifted down. i move fastest lane, he goes for the slowest, and its on, when i shifted 4th i watched him gain a bit of ground, then the 2.2 shined through, and he no longer was pullin, he was at the back door though, about 1/2 car off my rear bumper, we used em all, 4th, 5th, and 6th, i stayed in front, all the way to 145. man, i was almost in tears i was laughin and shakin so bad, we were haulin ass, and there was no doubt pride was at stake. so, yeah, this was one bad ass day. i kicked serious ass. laters all. thanks for readin. dave

Hmm...many of Dave's stories seem pretty unbelievable because he always beat or hung with much faster cars.

 

Purple, I have to agree with you here.
I have ridden many times in an 02 Trans Am with the ram air package and, unless this particular vehicle was just dressed up to look like one, it will easily lay a beating on the S2000.
Hmm...I think it may have been a V6.

But, realistically you were probably just the more competent and aggressive drivers. You beat the driver, not the car. It happens.

It surely wasn't a V6 though! A V6 would've fallen back very very quickly.

Well, I once raced an automatic Trans Am (not a WS-6) with an intake and exhaust and after about 60mph, it was over. He pulled me hard. No contest. So that's why I asked if he was SC'd, which I assume he is not, but I won't be the first one to raise "the flag".

 

C5 automatic I heard was the grandma of the Corvette. I was informed it was a high 13 sec kawr.
