Thumbs up BMW Z4

Anyone ever raced one? I never have. Matter a fact it never crossed my mind to try until my bother told me they were really fast. But I checked the specs and it seems like a drivers race to me. Anyway I was just wondering How the S would do against one. in 1/4 and on a road corse.

Peace. John

Well, I've auto-xed and generally abused a Z4 (3.0) before so I feel I'm somewhat qualified to answer this.

First off, the Z4 will probably pull off the line a bit better than our S due to the torque factor. It's like a little truck. Past that, I can't say accelleration wise.

Secondly, the Z4 rolls around like a pig. I nearly got the bitch airborn while auto-xing. It turns in much slower and generally feels awkward compared to the S plus it has an open rear diff so if you get any inside wheel lift on corner exit, you'll get some nasty wheel spin.

At an auto-x in stock form the S will kill it. I don't know what would happen on a track. Probably something similar.

yea but that doesnt mean it is faster than S2000
according to car and driver Z4 is .1 second faster than S2000 0-60
so i would say it is driver's race( manual S VS manual Z4 3.0)

Z4 looks like a SHARK out of water! The S will smoke it on dry land!

He was being sarcastic because there's no auto S, but someone posted "manual S" as if there's an auto option. For an S2000, just say S2000 and everybody will know it's a manual, no need to clarify if it's auto or stick. Very few cars out there only come in manual, I guess.

Z4 vs. S = similar accelerations. They both put down similar rwhp (Z4 under-rated at the crank). The Z4 is heavier but has more pulling torque, therefore, things equal out (in accelerations). I have no doubt an S will outhandle a Z4, given equally good drivers.
