BTW, AMG has a very impressive and successful racing background, esp in the German DTM series, where AMG has
I am not saying that Mercedes can't make a great race car. But there production cars are not great for the track at all. I mean how close is production CLK 55 to this

Don't get me wrong I love the cars I own an SLK and a ML myself. But when it came time to buy a fun car that would be able to perform on the track my choices were the S2000, M3, or M coupe.

And as for the pace car part. I built a pace car for GM that was a Trail Blazer and Toyota uses a Solar as a Pace Car. Just because A car is used as a Pace Car does not make it A good road race car. I am not trying to start an arguement I am just stating what is so.

Yeah, the medivac part was definitely embelishment, I know because I'm the poor guy that had to be extracted from the woods. Not a scratch on me, but the S2K is pretty banged up, it's still in the body shop (almost a month later!).

I did get a chance to watch this Benz coming down the straight all morning long, and as much as I hate Mercedes cars, I have to admit this thing sounded like a beast! And it was flying down the straightaway, noticeable faster than most other cars. I couldn't see it during the turns, so I can't say anything about its handling.

To "medevac" (which got my attention since we hadn't heard of it on this board) from the true story of "not a scratch" is quite an embellishment!

Xviper,

YOU HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD.

For the price of that car I could have a road S2k and a track S2k!

"BTW, AMG has a very impressive and successful racing background, esp in the German DTM series, where AMG has dominated (6 of the top 7 cars in the 2001 season): "

Well, MB should win since there are only 2 other competitors in this series of races. I think Audi & Opel are the only ones besides MB to compete. The race that most GT cars compete in is the Le Mans Europe/America. Every time someone brings up MB in racing, it brings me back to the infamous Le Mans CLK GTR going airborne. Talking about flipping. LOL

I've not driven a C32, but reviews of it did not have super optimistic things to say about its handling when pushed to the limit.

They did say the honkin supercharged motor was fast, though... I wouldn't drag race one for pink slips, but I wouldn't hesitate to run just about any technical road course for money... As long as the straights aren't too long

Of course for the price of a decently equiped C32, you could buy an S2000 and a WRX
