Default Camaro SS kill ;)

Had a few fun runs from 50 and 60 rolls. I was starting behind him as there was only one lane, but suprisingly kept up pretty good. He'd jump about 2 lengths, then slowly pull about 2 more until about 90-100 when he wasn't pulling much more. Really cool driver, gave me the peace sign and I gave him a thumbs up. It was nice to run with an SS owner who can actually drive and gave me props for the little 4 banger who did a good job keeping up with the American muscle!

The LS1 is one bad azz engine!

I must say i feel some say the Ls1 engine is awesome because they are trying to fit in or not upset anyone. IMO the Ls1 is ok but by no means anything unique or inspiring.

I have a question - what exactly is the difference between an LS1 Z28 and an SS?

Maybe 4-5 hp on the dyno, look at it as being the same...

Good run!
The SS's & WS6's have 'ram air' intake systems and less restrictive exhausts good for about 15-20rwhp.
They are also going to have 17x9 rims with 275/40/17's, non ram-air's have 16x8's with 245/50/16 tire size.
For those road racing, one would order the 1LE Camaro, which has larger sway bars and upgraded springs, shocks & bushings.

Not much. A little higher flowing exhaust cat-back system, a hood, spoiler, and 17" wheels. Mainly just a cosmetic upgrade.

Not true. Their intake, aka airlid, is the exact same as a regular Z28, Formula, or T/A. The SS is the only one that gets the option of a different airlid and that's only if you want to get bent over by SLP paying $1,000 for an airlid and poor looking catback. The CME is kind of unique but the dual/dual is crap.

Ram Air does NOTHING unless at speeds above 50 or so and combined with the less restrictive cat-back is worth about 15-20HP at the flywheel. No way it is worth that much at the wheels. Maybe worth an extra 3-5 RWHP. Typically all LS1's dyno about the same. Some are more freakish than others.
