Clutch dumping
NOt that this is an encounter, but i hate to race off the line cause i know we got no torque and im scared to dump the clutch cause of horror stories i have heard about busting the diff, or the ring and pinion. SO any safe rev ranges to dump from wthout havin to worry about bustin my diff?
you want the fastest way then you dump it. I've heard of some people using the handbreak on the launch, but I don't see that being faster then just dumping it. I think people that have had these horrible experiences are doing something very wrong because I have had over 300+ 6K clutch dumps in my car thus far and I've yet to have any problems.

And it seems the only thing i seem to have the misfortune running into at lights and stops are SVT Cobras and C6 Vettes, no way im racin those!

Learn the visual difference between older Cobras and 03+ Cobras. Don't pick on the new ones (supercharged and easily modded).
01-99 will run mid 13's, and the previous generation will hit high 13's low 14's....a driver's race, and it sounds like this guy has never launched before which will turn his car into a 15 second beast.

that said, NEVER dump below probably 4500rpm, and even that would be on colder tires and colder days. if you want to be "safe" about dumping, do NOT dump lower in the rpm range. this will cause you to bog (little wheel spin and then the rpms drop well below vtec). and if you do that, it puts tremendous strain on the drivetrain and the diff.
IMO, people that suffer broken diffs on their stock/near stock S2000's do so because they either launch improperly (not fast enough dumping the clutch, or bogging the launch, etc), or they had a mechanical defect in their diff. (or they didn't break in the car properly and beat on the diff before the ring/pinion could set their wear pattern)
in other words, this isn't something to do half assed. do it right or don't do it at all. see the link in my sig for more info.
Thanks for the replies so lets see if i am gettin the technique, rev over 5000 rpms minimun say in a ideal setting (Dry weather dry road and semi warm tires) and for the clutch, just let off it immediately like it bit my foot?
