Default Cop Pacing

I was driving home from work at about 11 PM on a two lane highway that had an exit lane. I was in the left lane behind a slow pick-up with a semi truck to my right in the slow lane. In my rear view I see a set of headlights approaching quickly. I was already going about 65 mph at the time so I knew the other car was going pretty fast, when I saw the other car cross two lanes to enter the exit only lane I was sure he was going to cut in front of the semi. I was able to accelerate and get in front of the semi forcing this other car to get behind me but in front of the semi. I could now tell that the vehicle was a late model Mustang. As we approached the next exit (with exit only lane for about a 1/2 mile), I was till in the right lane (75 Mph) coming up on a slower vehicle. Since this was my exit anyways I merged right, at the same time the Mustang merged left to pass the slow moving vehicle. This is when it got interesting. The mustang must have floored it because he took off, after a moment of contimplation I thought what the hell. I down shifted to 4th gear and floored it. I caught up with Mustang very quickly. The Mustang then moved one lane closer and it was clear that it wanted to exit but I was in the way, so I slowed down to about 90 Mph and paced right next to it so they couldn't exit. What happened next scared the crap out of me. Suddenly, from inside the car police lights began flashing and I heard the siren. My first instinct was brake. The police car passed then merged and led me into the exit. My adrenaline was pumping now, I didn't know what to do so I slowed to the speed limit and waited to see what would happen next. As we approached the intersection the light was red but the cop barely even slowed he just hit the lights and went through. So I stopped and took a deep breath. So I hade just gone over 100 mph to catch and then pace a police officer at 90 mph. My only explanation is he had more important business than some punk in a sports car. I didn't even know the cops had Mustangs! I have seen camaro's, cherokee's, even Durango's but never a Mustang. There goes on more life in 9 lives of sports car driver.

Damn, you are very lucky! There's a bunch of cars in baltimore on i95 that look completely like normal mustangs, SUVs, I think there's a camaro, but they're actually cops. I always try to go the speed limit on that part of 95 just because you can never tell who's the cop and who's not.

ouch... yeah, we've got a few of those around here too... We'll even see an old corsica or something parked in the median- like it is broken down- and then soon as you go by... you notice the little prick is clockin' you!

Also- cops will confiscate ricers and head out to Telegraph or other various areas of high race activity... and try to get people to run... then when the do... WHOOP WHOOP!!! red and blues...

bastards!

Haha, I did that exact same thing on the interstate one time. Pair of headlights came zooming up on me going 85mph already. So I blasted it to 115mph and said, what the hell, he's lossed, and I got into the slower lane and coasted back to normal speeds. I knew he'd pull a ricer flyby, so when I looked over, he had sirens on his car! He looked over at me, and knew I mistakened him, haha; then proceeded to gunho to his destination. Scared the shit out of me!

Highway One, police officers who patrol the highways of the 5 boroughs, have cabs that are police cars...you cannot tell them form any other yellow cab driving like an idiot.

A friend of mine is a NYC cop. He was at and intersection in queens and some kid in a riced out interga gsr pulled up next to him. My friend starts to rev the crown vic's engine, rolls down the window while he has biggie playing loud on the radio, and says to the guy, hey ya want to go? rev rev rev. The guy in the car finally looked over and says nah. The funny thing is my friend would have ran him, and not gave him a ticket. Where I live in suffolk on long island, the cops are pigs. They will pull over anyone they can for any reason. I was pulled over for pacing an unmarked cop infront of me at 75. Why did I get a ticket for doing what he was doing?

Anyway, moral of the story is not all cops are assholes; just most

I thought that cops couldn't entice you to run? Isn't that entrapment?
Anyway, as much as I'd love to race Holden's or HSV's, like the SS, Clubsport R8, Monara (not so much)...you can never tell if its an unmarked cop car or not. In fact its instinct to slow down even if I see a normal Commodore V6 behind me. Kinda sucks for Holden enthusiasts that want a friendly run every now and them lol.

Apologies if I misinterpreted something, but why were you trying to keep the Mustang from making his exit. Just being an aholey?
