Was on my way home tonight from a Sunday night at the office. Took the side streets home with the top down!

Approached what seemed to be a 1997-98 white Corvette coupe, with a manual gearbox. Got beside him at the light, the light turn green we then started ahead normally. He them blipped his gas pedal, indicating he wanted to play. I abliged. At the next light we were once again side by side. The light turned green. Neither of use lit any rubber, it was a rolling start. He gunned it, so did I. It was neck and neck until I threw it in second. From second, to third I just kept pulling away.

We came to the next light which was 3 blocks from where we started, again side by side. He smiled, turned and went his way. Good sport!

That was my first victory over something worth talking about

Some early LS1 vettes are only capable of mid to high 13 second quarter mile times. Combine that with maybe an apprehensive or unskilled driver and this story can be true.

No joke! I was surprised myself. Unskilled driver, something wrong with the 'vette, or both, but it was 1 1/2, to 2 car lengths when it was over.

Not sure if it was an LS1. Not too familiar with vettes. I should say it was the body style right before the one we see today.

My assumption of 1997-98 may be wrong?

If it's the previous style before the current one, it's either the 300hp LT1 or 330LT4, definitely possible

?? - 1996 LT1/LT4
1997 - ?? LS1/L5S6

gook kill

Actually, '95 is the last year the GT used the 5.0. From there, all GT's had the 4.6

That makes since it was an LT1, let's just say if you came across a well driven LS1 6-Speed from a roll, at the end you might not even see the vette!!
