Default CTSC AP2 vs modded E46 M3, G8

I don't normally street race, but I've been dying to see how my supercharger stacks up against other cars out there. This was on Route 80, which is a very wide open, smooth highway.

So I'm on 80, cruising top down. I see this really, really nice e46 M3 vert. We get close to each other, I give him a thumbs up, etc etc.

His car: darker silver vert, top down. Was definitely lowered with ~19" wheels. It was him and 1 passenger. He had a nice set of angel eyes, front CF splitters, and a CF GTR M3 hood, with the vents, nice sounding exhaust, which looked to have Ti tips, or be full Ti.

His car was extremely nice, and very well modded.

So we are messing around, and lined up for a few races. Started with some third gear pulls, then some second gear pulls. Third gear, ~65mph, I'm just hitting vtec, so he would get the jump, and I'd creep up and pass him around ~90ish.

2nd gear pulls, ~50mph, I was at ~6.5k rpm. I'd pull and put about 1-2 car by 90mph.

All of the clean runs resulted in me pulling 1-2 cars by ~90ish.

My car: 2004 s2000, Comptech Supercharger making ~7psi (though I have a leak and my stops at 5psi ), Berk header, 70mm Berk high flow cat, 70mm Invidia dual exhaust. Competition 6 puck clutch, AP1 flywheel.

I am estimated making ~320whp, I am not tuned. This reallllllly makes me want to get tuned/high boost and hit ~380whp.

I tracked the guy down on e46fanatics, and he says he has "fan delete,CDV delete, modified section 1 and ES muffler" so only a few bolt ons. He also has a 6speed, not the SMG.

This past weekend I was in PA for a family event. I was cruising top down on some windy country roads. I see a Pontiac G8 pull out in front of me and he starts driving equally as "spirited" as me.

We were on a 1 lane, so I couldn't line up next to him, but we were tearing it up through the twisties. I was right behind him the whole time, and I even had to slow down at times because I crept up too close to his rear. I'm assuming he was going all out, at least in the straights. In the turns, there wasn't much of a competition, apples to oranges.

I'm not certain if he was giving it 100%, but it seems like he was. I never had the chance to line up next to him as it was a 1 lane, but when we were in the straights, going all out, I was right behind him and kept gaining, and closed any gap he had. I think, at those speeds, if we were next to each other, I would have definitely put a few car lengths on him.

No idea what model G8 it was.

Cliffs: Supercharged S2000 pulls 1-2 cars (~50-~90mph) on a beautifully modded E46 M3 vert, both cars had top down.

I also stick right to the rear of a G8 in the PA back roads, with room to pull.

By 120 MPH you'd have pulled 3-4 cars on that M3 Vert... the E46 M3 Vert is about as fast as an S2000 (maybe a tiny bit faster), so a supercharged S2000 would smoke it, not to mention a coupe E46 M3 (which is much faster than the Vert.)

Nice kills.

Yea I found the guy on e46fanatics and he's from Wayne. His car is beautiful. Perfect drop/wheels set up, very aggressive but not overdone.

When I bought my first E46 M3 I wanted a vert until I drove it back to back with the coupe. I have driven a lot of cars but never have I driven a car that had such a noticeable difference in performance between the coupe and the vert. Beautiful cars but I have to go FI if i had the vert to compensate for the performance degradation that comes with the extra pounds.

I totally agree. I was considering an E46 M3 a while ago, and wouldn't even look at verts. Beautiful car, but I don't see the point in convertible versions of cars that were originally designed as coupes. Now I want to run against a coupe M3 and see how I'd do. I'd probably still pull a little, but not like I did vs the vert.

whats fast is a HPF turbo M3. My dad has a stage 2.5 HPF turbo M3, thing is so sick. its making like idk 25 psi or 28 and over 1000hp to the crank(like 800sumthing to the wheels).

But anyway, we cruise in town all the time in his m3 and sometimes both my 2k and his car(he makes mine look silly and i have a mase kit) but when we go in town and he gets next to any lancer, srt-4, sti, other m3's, audi's, lexus's, ect.......no match whatsoever.....that M3 is insane.....i wish my car was that fast

even though any of the cars above still have trouble keeping up with me
