Default Damnit, lost to a 1993 Taurus.

Me and my friend lined up on a deserted country road out near the pinnacles (Norcal).............he has intake and exhaust bolt ons, underdrive pullies, and a 65 shot zex kit. Its a 93 taurus sho, 5 speed. My s2k was stock.

I launched at about 4500rpms, and bogged it badly, and he pulled about two cars in first, and then maintained that lead up to about 105, where we both let off.

We're taking it to the track this Wednesday, and I NEED to beat him. He runs a 14 flat at around 101-102, and I have never, ever launched my car hard. So its going to be interesting. I might sneak over to the import car shop opposite my complex and buy me a CAI to even the odds some........worth it?

I'm not one to preach since my S2000 is unmodified, however I suspect that a CAI will not "even the odds" if this fellow is running Nitrous.

And to add...you don't "NEED" to beat him, you "WANT" to beat him.

if you want to even the odds a bit strip out the soft top and the motor for the top as well as the passenger seat and the carpeting and the spare tire and whatever else is not bolted down...

a CAI will do very little for you in a short DRAG race.

work on your launch to win...rev 6500-7000 range and sidestep that clutch and hold on... i don't recommend it, but it is the only way to launch.

CAI will put ya close to him. You'll still need the launch.

CAI gets me about two or three cars on a stock S2000 to ~100, so it should make difference.

Hmmmmmmmm.

I am not a fan of this whole "15000 rpm clutch drop" phenomenon. I want to beat him, but I also dont want driveline frappe. Guess I better put some sugar in his tank, or something.

Ummm...you want to win drag races, you're going to have to beat the hell out of your tranny.

Don't want to beat the hell out of your tranny, don't drag race.

No. That's dumb. The compression is already low enough and the car is probably under warranty.
