Destroyed S2000
You guys say the S2000 isn't meant for drag racing, and you know what? You're right. I beat one tonight (no mods except for some stupidly large rear windscreen) by about 7 car lengths. My car is a totally unmodified TT quattro, with "only" 180 hp. I say "only" because like everyone knows, HP is basically a BS figure anyway, derived mathmatically from torque and only usefull for marketing departments to dupe uninformed car buyers. OK, the S2000 has some good technology built into it but clearly it doens't make the car very fast, so what's the point?
Yeah, sure you could beat a TT from a roll...maybe if you consider a "roll" to be 20-30+ mph or wherever you're actually above 6000 RPM in 1st. I've driven an S2000 and below 6000 it has no more power than a 3rd-gen Integra LS. Fact is, 99% of drivers can't launch their S2000 no matter what people claim on this board. All I have to do is rev to 4000 and sidestep the clutch.
Wow,
You know....I'm almost disturbed by that post. I didn't think how much of a lack of comradeship we have as car enthusiasts. I for one have been a loyal Honda fan for many years. I'm also a VW/Audi nut as well, having recently replaced my G60 motor in my A2 Golf with a 1.8T motor from the New Beetle. In all honesty, I would have to say that my Golf would easily take out my soon to be arriving S2000. I beg to differ with the statement about the 1.8T TT taking out the S2000 by such great lengths as you describe. Is your vehicle chipped? If not, this would heighten my skepticism even more.
In light of the above statements, I really care little about these stop light battles, since I bought my Spa Yellow for cruising, top down in style. If I might add, I did in fact look at the TT 1.8T before purchasing the S2k but could not justify the extra $7000 CAD for the Audi.
My apologies for the long windedness and I hope I don't start any flame wars..just a little disheartening to see such comments.
Cheers
Asif

no flame intended. Will someone from TX show him how it is done? I have out ran my friend's TT 225HP version. Don't bother with yours unless you have a chip.
otherwise, it is all fun and game, just relax.

If you guys are so into drag racing, why didn't you just buy Camaros? You should accept that the S2000 is going to lose a lot of drag races, it is extremely hard to launch and it has no low end torque. I knew a guy with an S2000. He had a Gtech pro and couldn't get a 0-60 time under 7.4.
The 189 hp TT is one slow sports car, it won't break 7 seconds to 60, chippped is another matter, but still won't be much better than 6.3-6.5 sec. Even the 225 TT is not that quick maybe 6.1 sec.
0-100 the S2000 is as quick as a stock S4 6 speed, the TT's big and fast brother.
The S2000 owner was probably just cruising.
