Heading home on Sunday I see a Civic SI coming up behind me. I was in the right lane; he was in the far left. I looked over to see that he had... a huge tach on the dash but still had stock exhaust? Thinking this will be fun, I pulled up beside him put it into 3rd and gunned it. Not even before I could redline 3rd he had a 10+ cars lengths on me. (Could not hear any forced induction?). I shut it down and did not want face the agony of defeat.

As I walked in the door I figured I might as well get it over with and tell my roommate. Anticipating the laugh and "bad driver" comment, he asked me if this was a blue SI with a large tach on the dash. (I had not told him yet). I confirmed that it was and with that he told me of a same encounter with that car on the same highway. Although, the kill was not as bad on his part, it still occurred.

BTW- my roommate has a 400+hp eclipse running 11.6sec 1/4.

So "sleeper" SI.. Two thumbs up.

I always go for the sleeper look when I modify my car, that Civic would've probably been running a turbo no doubt about that.

 

Man! by the way that you described the race, 10+cars after just 3rd gear, it gotta be one of a kind Si. To spank you like that, he must pack a BIG A$$ turbo or something similar.
