Did I really just get away with that?
So I'm on my way to work this morning... I turn left onto the main street, and before I've gone a quarter of a mile, there he is, the motorcycle cop. Bike parked in the turn lane, pointing the radar gun at me. I instantly lift, and glance down - 53mph, speed lmit is 40. Oops. My wife has been ticketed twice by a motorcycle cop in this exact location (going back several years).
He steps of the curb and into my lane, and directs me to pull in by his bike. So here I am, in a bright red sports car, loud exhaust, lowered, Volk wheels with drilled/slotted rotors. Well, it's been 8 years, and this is the first time I've even been pulled over in this car, I guess I'm about due.
He tells me he got me at 54 with laser. I offered a quick "my apologies, I guess I was in a hurry to get to the office". He asked for my license, proof of insurance, and registration. I said "no problem" and produced the first two from my wallet. Before turning and reaching into the secret compartment for the registration, I gave him a heads up (don't want him to think I'm reaching for something bad).
So he takes all of my information back to his motorcycle, and does his thing. Meanwhile, I'm debating whether I'm going to call an attorney or just take the 4 hr class to waive the ticket.
He comes back, hands me my stuff, plus another slip of paper, and asks me to "please be more careful." I look down, and it's just a written warning.
I think maybe I should go buy a lottery ticket tonight...

nice man. one time i had a cop tailing me on 395 south of DC (and i didn't know it)...i was going maybe 68 in a 55, but slower than at least half the cars at the time. it was, however, light evening traffic.
i exited and saw him right up on my ass, and he flipped on the lights. top was down, but it was dusk and getting difficult to see. young cop (probably mid 20s) came up to me and said he was pacing me at about 70 mph, and asked why i was driving so fast. i was respectful, said i was probably going high 60s, but certainly not 70, and that i was just trying to get home. he asked me if i had a clean record, i replied yes (i did), and he then asked for my license and registration.
he goes back to his car, makes me sweat it out for 5 minutes, comes back, says he's not going to give me a ticket for speeding, but he's going to pop me with a ticket for "failure to use my traffic signal" for when i was exiting. WOW. are you serious? i'd estimate 50% of people don't use their turn signals when they're actually turning onto other roads, but this was just one lane change into the exit lane, with no one around me (other than the cop, apparently).
thanks for the $81 ticket! i attributed it to the red S2000, because i have been pulled over in more conventional vehicles and been let off with warnings.

that aint nothing.
yesterday coming back from lunch. i make a left turn from a 4-way stop intersection. i gun it into 2nd (i only get 30 mins lunch) and notice something out the corner of my eye. i'm already past it so check my mirror.
it's the dodge charger squad car. hes parked in a lot facing the intersection.
OH S!T! i look down and i'm around 55. speed limit is 30. his brakes lights are on. crap i think to myself hes shifting into gear to come after me.
as i near the end of the block and a building away from my work, i see that he still hasn't moved. i get to work and get the hell outta the car asap hoping that he can't ticket me if he can't find the driver. he never shows up.

i got pulled over by radar going 80km/h in a 50. the cop asks for license and registration meanwhile he is standing there starting to write up the ticket with location, etc. so i hand him my license and reg, he fills in the car info first and then gets to my license. as soon as he looks at my name, he stops, looks at me for a second and says "hey.. do you know so and so?" and it turns out "yeah that's my dad!". he laughs and said that they graduated highschool together and blah blah. then he rips up the $170 ticket and tells me to drive safe!
the even funnier part is when i asked my dad about him, he said that the traffic cop was the one always trying to start races with him in school.
got lucky on that one.

I had just put tire shine on my tires and apparently I put it too far on the sidewalls of the tires, and I was not familiar with this particular product yet. I was making a u turn on a 3 lane highway with cars coming (I had time to make the turn, but I had to do it quickly)...I make the u turn and the rear end slides out a tiny bit and makes a loud squealing noise...I would have been fine but for the slippery sidewalls because of the fresh tire shine.
I then noticed a State Trooper waiting to u-turn in the next turn lane up....I'm just like "oh s**t", but he just kind of gave me a "wow, did you really just do that?" look and let me go. He may have been off duty, but in any case I got very lucky.

Haha nice.
One time i got pulled for criminal speeding (20+) NO INSURANCE, turned to the far lane instead of the closest, and didn't have shoes on.
Could have EASILY put me in jail and impounded my car.
I explained to the officer that I was going into the Air Force and if I got a ticket, I wouldn't be able to pay it off there for i could not join, so I asked him politely to consider this and apologized and said I will be more careful.
He comes back, hands me all of my stuff, shakes my hand and says have a good night

I have a family member who is a police officer. I'm sure your clean record helped you but you probably got lucky because A)he might have been a cool cop, B) his shift was almost over & he didn't want to do any more paper work, C) he made his "quota" for the month, or D)he's a fan of the S.
