Default Effin Vette Driver

So a good friend of mine's wife is in town. They are moving to where I live so she had to fly down to pick up keys, sign some paperwork, etc. I take her to go eat, and we are up to our exit, a 2 lane exit. I had just cut through some traffic and I enter the exit lanes. There are 2 of them. I had sped up and passed a Vette, not a new one, a C5. He was doing the speed limit or less on his phone. I entered his lane (the exit lane) a good 3-4 car lengths ahead. The next thing you know he is on the gas hard. I was probably doing 70ish when I entered his lane, he had to be doing 10-15 MPH or less. I see him coming up on my ass very hard so I flip the blinker to the left hand exit lane and start moving to the left as there was no car close to being behind me, I check my mirrors again and he is in that lane now with his nose at my rear. Maybe I'm a complete prick but I left the car there in between each lane until the wall on his left started to shrink then I moved over for his Schumaker wannabe self. I was parked in between each lane for maybe 1.something seconds. We pull up to the light and he is still on his cellphone flipping me off and I'm thinking oh shit, my buddy's wife is gonna be ripping my ass when she tells him something to the effect of "He drives crazy, etc" but I quickly realize she drives as fast as me, knows the 1/4 mile times of the car I'm driving, etc.

I don't drive nuts, I'm 31 and have a clean driving record. I do like to use the fast lane to get where I'm going and rarely talk on the phone in the car. When I'm driving I'm getting to my destination as quick and as safely as possible. Riding bikes has taught me to go 5 MPH faster than the flow of traffic (highway only) and get in and get out of the fast lane depending upon someone coming up behind me travelling faster. IE, a little faster than traffic in the fast lane, if someone is moving faster I move over to the next lane and let them pass before they are even at my bumper. So in other words, this guy sees a droptop Honda go past him as he chattering away and tries to play small penis syndrome on me. Perhaps the paper plates pissed him off? I have no idea. I haven't owned a car like this prior, am I to expect this? Something tells me if I would have been in my Civic, he would have kept at his current pace and this wouldn't have happened.

That is unfortunate. Sounds like you found a bad apple. There are some of those out there but hopefully not too many. I have been an S owner for about 18 months now. I haven't had any problem encounters so far. I don't engage in much aggressive driving and it sounds that you don't normally either. Thank goodness all Vette drivers are not like the guy you encountered.

Well said.

Idiots are in all type of cars. They were idiots before owning current vehicles and will be idiots regardless of what they own.

i hear that, small penis syndrome comes from all different car owners, you just got to let them go because no matter what you do or say, they are always right in their minds, you wonder where the cops are sometimes

i had the same experience except there were no ill feelings. i just passed a C5 on the freeway and about 4 car lengths later i hear a roar. i downshifted but it was too late; he pulled 2 instant cars before letting off. we tried a second time with the same result. i think a lot of high end sports car drivers are intimidated by the S because it looks aggressive and they don't know what it's got under that long hood. Especially NFR

A little off topic but does this ever happens to you guys? "Most" of the time when I'm driving faster than the speed limit there seem to be a cop around at every corner, when some idiot comes speeding by and try to engage in a race cops are never around. What's the deal?

Maybe next time I should stop right next to that cop that's holding the radar gun and do a all out burnout 'til my tires pop, I hope that it's just in my head . I'll tell him to point the radar gun at my rear wheels while it's spinning round and round, if he's good then I might give him a donut .
