I was behind this red RX-7(had exhaust) at the traffic light. As the light turned green, he started out normally then all of a sudden, he punches it. I decide to punch it as well. However, by the time I got into VTEC, he was like couple cars in front of me. I could never gain on him as he is now pulling on me. That thing was FAST!!! I was smelling this awful smell from his exhaust the whole time. It was pretty fun tho....

 

RX7's are a series are cars that can be modded for extraordinary HP, if you're willing to suck down a lot 'o dead dinosaurs and shoot flames out the rear.

 

what a quandary: two of my favorite cars. i wouldn't know who to cheer for.

Yep...I too got smoked by one.
He had a bigger intercooler, exhaust and turbo timer.

I dropped the hammer first into 3rd gear...well into vtec.

He pulled out 2-3 car lengths before a gave up!

Definately a cool car (but alot of maintanance I heard).

 

I know someone who sold his turbo prelude and bought a used modded RX-7. Currently, he can't drive that car because everything has gone wrong for that car.....

 

ANyway, my friend just upgraded his twin turbo on his supra to a single turbo. IT IS FAST AS HELL!!! That turbo was so LOUD!!! He told me he can EASILY get 11's in 1/4 mile!! Love the sound of turbo but also love the sound of VTEC screaming!!!

 

I got a ride from a guy at work that had one modded (turbos, intercoolers, A/F control, driveline) by Petit racing in Ft.Lauderdale. It dynoed over 400 and looks totally stock....no wheels, non asuuming exhaust. One 0 to 100 run made me think very differently about the RX-7.

modded rx-7 is definately the car you don't want to mess with. It'll out accelerate the S easily and it'll hang with you in the coners/twisty nicely. Mine blk/94 rx-t did a 11.65ET. Currently waiting for a rollcage and launch-kit.

 

Did you say launch pad? Have you asked NASA?
