Encounter w/VR-4.......
Driving home from work I see this White 3000GT(the generation before the latest one) with a dual single exhaust. I was thinking I was going to lose so at first I didnt want to try but as I was driving past him, he starts to speed. So I downshift to 3rd while I was going 75 and start to catch up to him. Used up 3rd and towards the end of 4th I started gaining on him....I change lane and look over as I started to pull on him. I braked after using up almost all of 5th gear. I look through the mirror and he is way back. I started to think that he gave up. I slow down to about 40 on 55MPH zone to try to race him again but he wouldn't come up to me. I wanted to at least see if it was a VR-4 or a SL but saw the tag next to the 3000GT and it read, "VR-4". I was pretty shocked. How fast are these cars anyway?? Did I get lucky??? Anyway, it was a great feeling beating the VR-4....
What are your mods? If you are close to stock he should have walked you. You probably ran a fake VR-4, or he wasn't really racing. I don't know of any after-market exhausts that are single exit and dual tipped though. It could have been custom.. The non-turbo Stealths came with a single side dual tip. Stock, a good driver should run mid to high 13's, and have no problem cutting a sub 2 second 60' on street tires. Also, 75mph is a nice spot for a 3rd gear pull.
How do you figure? The AWD has a pretty high drivetrain loss..
froma roll it would be a lot tougher though
I'm completely stock and I know he was racing. I drive past him and he starts to speed up so I went after him. I slowed down after I pulled on him and slowed down to 45 just so I can race him again. Tell me why he never tried to pass me although I was going really slow....

I agree.........but please tell me you are not saying that a stock non turbo Stealth is running mid to high 13's...........I hope you are refering the the turbo Stealth or the VR4............
MDS2k,
Also, there are a lot of SL's with VR4 badges........kinda like lil' Civics with the Type R badge........know what I mean?

Yup, I agree with Zoran. If he downsifted to 3rd, S2000 has more advantage over 4wd VR-4. We are not talking about 1/4mile times here from a dead stop. But again, it's a slight advantage. In my opinion, reaction time is the most important factor.

[QUOTE]I don't understand your scepticism. S2000 should walk a stock pre-94 VR4, especially from a roll.
