Default EVO 9 vs GTO

I had the chance to do some roll races on the fwy with a newer style GTO. From what I can see from the outside he had an exhaust but I don't know if he has full bolt on or not. Either way it start by us both pacing each other at 50mph, I was in third gear waiting for him to honk three time. Once the third honk went off, I smash on the gas and gain about 1 and half car on him. By the end of 4th gear I probably put like 4-5 cars on him from what I can see. This is just a estimation since we were going pretty fast.

How fast are the new GTO? I would've thought they could've gave me more of a challenge then that.

i think u ran an ls2 gto, and those stock could trap up to 108mph vs. the IX's 105mph (on good tracks, not like lacr )

with some bolt-on's it's hard to say...the GTO is a boat weighing at around 3700lbs. ur Evo with almost 380whp was more than a match for him, a GTO would need more than that to beat u.

stock for stock the ls2 will pull a IX, but by no means rape it. the ls2 responds very well to mods as well though, 400whp n/a can be achieved, but they're still heavy as hell.

You almost made me cry seeing as I lose by a car or so to an LS2 M6 GTO from 70-120. Damn, glad I saw your 380whp in sig

Sounds like a good run. Did the hood have scoops or not? If it did, it was LS2, they run low 13's/high 12's @ 105-109

LS1 GTO (without scoops) runs 13.6-14.2@ 100-103.

LS2 then, they run 12.9-13.5@103-108. Usually somewhere in the middle.

I agree, At California Speedway, I see most LS1 GTO's run in the 14's. They're surprisingly not that fast.

I played with an older one before (No scoops, so most likely LS1). I think my drafting helped a little, but I had to let off the gas slightly every few seconds or I was about to hit his rear bumper. I highly doubt it was an auto because I saw/heard him downshift.

But LS2 GTO's are fast.

With a decent driver a LS1 GTo will run 13.2-13.6 Its all in how you launch. If you just rev it up and drop the clutch and smash the gas then your going to run horribly in the 1/4 mile, because you will waste a lot of itme at the line spinning. If you rev it up to about 2500rpm and then feather the gas and the clutch, you should not get a time over 13.7 or so.

The LS2 GTO are only about .3-.5 seconds faster than the LS1 GTO's. How many car lenghts does this amount to in the 1/4? maybe a 1/2 to 1? The thing I love about the LSX engines are they respone to mods very well. I picked up, close to 20whp by just installing a CAI, cat back exhaust, Predator tune, and port & pollished throttle body. Cost me a total of $650. I am saving for 3.91 gears and a small cam set up. which I think will reduce my 1/4 mile time by .5-.8 seconds
