Default Evo vs Bike

Ok, im on my way home from work, just getting on the freeway and I notice a bike in the lane next to me we just cruise it for about 5 miles or so then he speeds up and passes me. I then notice its the same bike we seen maybe a month ago in the S that we had played with Ok, he has a passenger so I figure he wouldnt do anything, but I speed up anywyas and pass him. I was maybe 2 cars up and he starts to creep up again, then I hear him downshift so I was like ok, so I downshift to 4th and we both floor it. He was by my side for a while then I started pulling away and at the mid of 5th at about 140-145 he was a good 10 cars back, im assuming since he didnt pass me easily or catch me for that matter he let off after a bit. Well I start slowing down and the lane starts to merge to 2 lanes and I let him go to pass me to get in front, well he pulls up next to me all pissed off pointing at his passenger, then pointing at me, then pointing straight, etc...I guess he was trying to tell me if he didnt have the passenger etc..he would kick my ass Haha, I know he most likely would have, but I just dont get why if he knew if the passenger didnt want him racing or he didnt want to race why did he? Like I said he did it before when we were in the S and didnt get pissed but then again, we didnt pull on him like I did this time

PS for all the guys that will call BS, haha I have no need to lie, it was just a fun run and I am very aware of how fast bikes are, I used to have a modded CBR.

First off, any one on a sportbike that rides with a passenger on the highway is a complete tool. Just for the sake of being smart, If your in a car, don't race anyone on a bike carrying a passenger. even if the bike is taunting you, out of respect for the passengers life, dont even participate. The passenger was probably scared crazy, especially if female.

I have 04 R1, I took off my rear pegs and never ride a passenger. I have a wife so I don't need to pick up ladies. As for your story, I believe it 100%, most 600cc bikes run out of steem after 130mph and don't accelerate as hard as say a corvette on the top end.

I see a lot of car vs bike stories on here, just to set the record straight. My R1 is capable of 9s in the 1/4 stock. With my pipe, filter, and power commander, there is no car on the road that has ever come close to keeping up. I dont race cars seriously because its usually a complete joke and not worth the chance of a ticket. However, on occasion I do play around. The fastest car I ever went all out against was a late model Dodge Viper. We both hit it from a 20mph roll, I ran through the gears and shut down at 150-160. The Viper was so far back it was just plain stupid. I could not even attempt to estimate the number of cars, and Yes he was trying.

A few 600cc bikes may get suprised by a fast car, most 1000ccs will not! Unless you have 500hp or more, there is really no point in trying to race bikes. You will get spanked 9 times out of 10. Anyway, stay away from idiots with passengers.

Well, I'll just say this. I dont think im the one that needs to not play, I think he's the one that should'nt have tried. Im assuming that was his GF or Wife since the last time we seen him it was the same passenger. Believe me I know what your saying about the bigger bikes, my buddy has had several R1's, a new one every year and he never keeps them stock, but im not like most people and shy away from bikes. Hell I could run a Single Turbo Supra just for fun on the freeway just to watch it pull. But yeah I dont think I was wrong, I think he should have used better judgement or slowed down and said something to me like let me race you when im alone and I would have let it go, just my .02 cents.

...he should not have tried to race you with a passenger to begin with...He may have let off on the highter speeds due to constant poking in his ribs from his wife/gf who knows...but he should not have gotten pissed off...If he didnt want to race he did not HAVE to take it up to 140...He's just mad because he thought you may have took it as you whoopin his "bikes" ass...and didnt want you to think that... what a tool. Good run

I'm not saying you did anything wrong dude. Sometimes we just need to be responsible and think about others saftey not just our own. You were perfectly in your right to stomp the gas. The tool on the bike is an idiot for going that fast with a passenger.

Maybe I'm getting old or something, if I see an agressive idoit on a bike, especially with a passenger, I dont want to be the reason either of them get killed. No matter how fast your ride is, sometimes its better not to provoke the brain dead morons and idiots out there.

Probably was his GF or wife. more reason to call the guy an idiot. If he cared about his passenger at all, he would not even think of breaking triple digits. I alwasy laugh at the bikes on the Beltway or interstate blowing by cars and weaving out of traffic. Those are usually the same squids with chicken stips on their tires who could not drag a knee to save their lives.

Just four the record though...Even 600cc bikes can now break into the 10s in the 1/4 mile at 120ish traps. That trap speed is good indicator that 600cc bikes are no slouches in the 100-140mph range. I would say that guy was not going full out. As someone else said, his wife / GF was probably sticking her index finger through his rib cage to slow down.

Am I a tool because I have taken my wife on a ride that involved some freeway? I have done it on my CBR1100XX to my RC51.

What kind of lame generalization is that?

^ Who are you talking about in your last paragraph? Who didnt have full leathers on? If you were talking to me, I was the one in the Evo The guy and his passenger did have leathers on, but yeah they would do no good at that speed.

joe9k...I know what your saying, but honestly how am I supposed to know hes gonna take it up to that speed. Once he got to 100 or whatever he could have let off, I think it had to do with pride. Believe me I am fully aware of what bikes run 1/4 mile, but as mentioned you would need to be a pro to pretty much get those times or have some serious track time under your belt.

I know he was pissed because now he's proabably thinking "oh that guy thinks he can beat a bike" Haha, it has notthing to do with that, it was just a friendly race on my part as it always is, I cant help it if someone gets pissed.
