Fiery Encounter
Well this is a different kind of encounter but amsuing nonetheless. I was in the "bat-truck", my 2001 F-150 Supercrew 4X4 with a 4" lift and 34s. With that said here is what happened. I was on the dallas north tollway heading home from work. I was in the middle lane and decided to drift into the fast lane. As soon as my tires hit the white line I heard a horn start blaring at me. Some guy in a 330CI was in my blind spot and I drifted right up next to him. I felt bad and let him around. When he came by I expected him to be mad, but was going to attempt to be apologetic and give him the best "I am sorry" gestures I could. That would have been nice, all this guy did was slowly pass me with his finger straight up and would not make any eye contact. I was alittle pissed about that, but I decided to make another attempt. This time I was on the opposite side and when I came upon him the same thing happened again(I guess I am #1 or something). Now I am mad, I thing swerve around and get right up next to him, as I do this he looks up at me, points at my truck and I, then points to the exit approaching, I filed in line and and followed him off the exit, then turned at the light. I followed close for a few streets awaiting him to single me into a parking lot or something. But he never did it so I flashed him and kept my blinker on for a few blocks. He still keep his line, so I then tried to get up next to him at the light. I was one car aside and behind him and he refused to acknowledge me. As soon as the light turned green he shot around the corner and hung a quick right. I followed suit and jumped over 2 lanes and gave chase. We then were involved in a chase through a residential division, now if you have ever seen a 4 door 4X4 drifting through 90 degree corners and catching air over massive street humps you know its rather intense. This crap went on for about 10 minutes while I was laughing hysterically about how pathetic this guy is. So in the end I just turned off and let him be the puss he is. You know though the funny thing is my intentions were to just apologize and explain this was an accident. But it just roots back to the my current theology, respect for others, general human decentcy and manors in general are declining at a staggering rate. We all see it happening.................why not do something about it?
smp_punk,
You make it sound like you are the "angel" in the story trying to make it right by chasing his stupid ass, cutting over "two lanes" of traffic, "giving chase", "drifting through 90 degree corners" in a damn residential neighborhood. On top of all this you have the nerve to say:
So why didn't you do something about it and be the better person and simply continue to drive? Or was doing "something" all of the above so that you could simply scare the shit out of the guy, then finally get beside him to say "I'm sorry, I really wasn't chasing you. I just wanted to say how sorry I am for not checking my blind-spot and running over your car with my 'bat-truck'".
I'm not defending the guy in the BMW. If you drive a "bat-truck" or a truck in general, I believe it is your obligation to check your blind spots before you move. Get some round mirrors...something. I drive a smaller 4x4 Toyota truck (nothing the size of your truck) and I make it a point to check before I move over a lane.
Be careful out there and be courteous to others even though they may not always be courteous to you.

No doubt the guy should not have flipped you off. If he was pacing you in your blind spot it is half his fault. I never get mad at people for those mistakes. Everybody makes them.
As for pulling off the freeway, dumb, dumb, dumb..I assume you have some family you are important too. How do you know there wasn't a gun on the seat next to him and he was planning on using it once you stopped. Never, ever pull over to discuss and "incident" on the road.

I agree with E34M5. If he was driving in your blind spot that is his fault. It is your fault for not being more aware of what was in your blind spot, but I think you acknowledged that.
Drivers are too quick to fire up that middle finger when they are surrounded by a ton of moving metal. People get artificially tough when there are no perceived consequences.
Just recently a tough guy in a truck stopped to confront fellow motorist. They pulled off to the side of the road to "chat" and truck guy was shot dead. Now his family is whinning about the injustice of his death. Why? Because he stopped on the side of the road kick some other guy's ass and lost? This tough truck guy is just as responsible for his death as the guy who pulled the trigger. What was he there to prove? That he could beat the other guy up? How stupid is that? With his death, the world simply has one fewer road raging idiot on the highways.
So you are saying, "respect for others, general human decency and manors in general are declining at a staggering rate." Look in the mirror buddy. Read your post. You are the problem here, not the victim.

i think this story starts out good but ends in idiocy. driving through a residential area like a lunatic is nothing to be proud of and this whole "my d*ck is bigger than yours" mentality it very childish. your final comment doesn't strengthen your argument but rather points out how hypocritcal you're being in the first place by chasing this guy.
Just keep in mind that Texas is a gun-toating state... I for one carry in my car, truck, and at work (yes, its permitted).
If someone gave chase, I'de simply pull over. If he 'attacked', the consequences could be severe (for him).
Your best bet is to keep on going, minding your own business.
