Default Finally had the chance to run an Evo.

I helped my neighbor get the Evo 2 weeks ago, and I love that car. We were heading east on the 202 (east valley) and we went from 70 on. I was very impressed with the Evo. Both runs I did pull away but not as much as I thought I would. I started both runs in 4th gear and I am sure he was in third. He had an 80lb passenger with an 1/8th of a tank of gas, and I had no passenger, with a full tank. He is getting a 3" turbo back exhaust and an intake with in another week, and the S goes to Dynocomp on Monday for the smaller pulley and adjustments to the FPR. I am very curious to see what I am putting down to the wheels, but I think when my neighbor does his mods, the Evo will be victorious. I have a clutch master stage 4 clutch and Toda flywheel sitting in the garage waiting to be installed, but I really don't think those pieces will help. That Evo is one bad mamma jamma. I don't care if it's a Mitsubishi, I still like everything about the car. I would have got one, but last week, driving with the top down (75 degrees), it made perfect sence to me why I can't part with the S.

I think even after he gets the turboback and the intake, you can still keep up at higher speeds like 80mph+ roll ons. But low speed roll ons or from a launch the EVO should be able to take you.

He pulled away because he's at least got a supercharger, since he said he's getting a smaller pully and adj. to his FPR.

Yeah, I do have the Comptech supercharger and aftercooler. Also have the Spugen Ti single exhaust. That's it for power mods as for now, all the other stuff is eye candy and they have no bearing on performance. I would like to get the Comptech diff support and 4.57's and install everything later this summer, but time will tell. I am curious to how the naturally asperated S2k's can beat the Evo. Maybe I have a slower one, because without the S/C set up, I definitely could not hang with the Evo. Hoping to lay down at least 300 whp tomorrow. I will post results tomorrow night.

I have beaten an EVO with just minor mods {I/H/E & test pipe}. The race was from a roll.

Im just curious how much did you pull away, you said not much so that sounds pretty impressive for the EVO. A full turbo back and a reprogrammed ECU will give him some better top end so it will be interesting to see the next results even though your throwing in a couple more mods.

BTW how many miles have you put on your car with the SC? We are thinking of boosting ours.
