Finally... I get to run the EVOLUTION
The top end on the EVO's are suspect, as has been stated numerous times by even Evo owners. The have a 5 speed that is not geared particularly well (they say it's like 1,2,3,4, 6) for high speed runs. 0-60 or even 1/4 mi. the Evo would be tough to keep up with, but on the top end the S2000 with it's properly spaced 6 gears is a definite match for the Evo. Nice run.
I had an encounter w/a white one a while ago (he was bone stock)...we went from a 30 roll, obviously I was in 1st, but I think he was in 2nd (maybe good for him)..anyways, soon as we step down I inched about a 1/2 a car, then 2nd he started gaining back, low 3rd he cought me and passed me by 1/2 a car, then high 3rd I stoped him from pulling and was just sitting 1/2 a car back, 4th I started comeing back for him and had it even by mid 4th...(very back and forth kinda race) then he let off...however in my opinion, I think I would have kept gaining through the rest of 4th, because low gear he would seem to have the advantage, but high gear I would then return the favor, probally cause of boost drop off....then to go w/what quik s2k said about minor mods being anything but minor...I saw the same evo 2 weeks later...he had an exhaust and a boost controller, we ran from a 2nd roll and he just started pulling, I couldn't do anything but watch. But this time it was a straight pull, no back and forth...in the end he had me by like 2 cars...one of the good things about haveing a turbo!
