Default First two in one night!

Going home from work the other night, doing around 80mph on Bush Tpk. A black Jetta pulls up behind me, sitting on my tail and revving his engine, making it obvious he wants me to move. I oblige by dropping into 3rd and flooring it, and around 120mph I lose track of him in my mirror. He happens to catch up to me at a light after I exited the Tpk, and his passenger leans out the window and yells, "Jesus, how much power does that thing have stock?" I tell him it's a four-banger and then leave him at the line when the light turns green.

Late that night, I pass a Mustang Cobra on LBJ Fwy and he decides to match my speed (only doing 90mph at the time). After we're neck and neck all the way to 130mph, he just can't keep accelerating and falls behind. As I slowed for my exit, he gave me a thumbs-up as he passed by.

Hmm, I wonder how much faster I could go if I ever drove with the top up... The wind is vicious above 90.

nah my 98 cobra would break 150 easy ---- actually it was scary quick between 110-140, I used to run 150 daily between the packs of traffic on the way to boulder.

Steve - I raced a 540i w/ sport trim on my way to Boulder tonight. 75mph - 123mph. Didn't gain an inch on that guy then traffic was approaching so we shut it down. The guy was really polite, he pulled up fast from behind, matched my speed, escorted me through a patch of traffic and then we punched it. After, he gave me a wave and by then we we were in Boulder.

So is this an acceptable tie over these speeds or do I just suck?

newguy,

Those 540i w/sport trim might be the one with the 6-speed. And you are talking about 280HP and prob. over 300 ft-lb of torque. Not to mention they are built for high speeds. I would have though a Stook would pull a little on one, but a tie doesn't sound TOO bad

I raced a 540 6-speed from a stop and by 70 mph I had him by 3-4 cars.

He asked for it too. I was coming home from a club and I was at a stop light and he pulled up next to me and said 'wanna race' and I said OK.

By the next light he said 'damn that's fast, I never thought you would keep up with me let alone beat me'.

Those 6-speed 540i are as quick as our S in straightline accerlation. I under-estimated one and got spanked by 2 cars (i didn't launch right).
One more h/w story to make your heart jump.
I was driving on West 90 around 70mph. It was around noon, when i was approach by a 50ish gentleman in a green z28. He noticed me so he down-shifted and slow down. I was hesitated to bite at first, but what the heck, he seem to be a nice guy. I droped to 4th and we were just doing some quick accel/stop kind of deal due to minor traffics on the street. for 5-10mins we were just showing each other what the our car can do by accel/brake. He was ahead by 3 cars when traffic clear up, he moved to the left-lane/i followed. Remember he was in front of me by 3 cars, we both hitted and i'm catching him at a very decent speed. I know i was drafting him , but what can i do, there's no free-lane and his car is much more areodynamics than our. around 30sec?? later at 120ish mph, i inched up on his back bumper, changed to the right lane, and i'm by his passenger door still moving on him. We hit traffic so we have to shut it down at that moment, but me/him know that i was on my way to show him my back H emblem. I missed my exit by around 5 miles. He gave me a nod/thumb up and i was happy. I exit at the next exit and we both waved. Nice guy! .....I think it have to be a old z28(LT1???)
