Default First V8 race in the S2k

Since owning my S2k, i haven't raced too many cars out there. I normally dont street race, but tonight was just one of those nights where the road was clear, not a car in sight and ur brain forgets to reason.

Anyways, I pull up to a light and I was behind another car. All of a sudden, a newer model Z28 pulls up next to me and stops. I dont really know the official specs of the Z28, but it sure sounded mean. I knew he wanted to race because there we no cars in front of his lane at this light, yet he stops next to my car. From what my cousin and I heard, it had some sort of custom exhaust.

So the road clears, i slowly pass up the car in front of me and he switches lanes to the right. I didn't feel like racing at first, but he slowed down, and i slowly passed him at about 60 mph. I hear him downshift, so I was like whatever, lets see how fast my 4 cylinder can go against the Z28. To my suprise though, I downshifted from 6th to 3rd and we were neck and neck. As the RPMS approached 9000 rpm, the gauged flashes, and i shift into 4th. I started pulling away fairly strong.

I figure he might have misshifted or something, so we go at it again. I start out in second at around 5800 rpm. I honked 3 times and he takes off. As soon as he does i floor the S2k. Same result again, even until the end of 3rd. By 4th i would pull away.

So I guess he wants to go at it one more time. We pull a u-turn around and go back. I left it in first this time at around 6-7000 rpm waiting for him to come up next to me. As he does, we count it off again. We were basically even until 3rd, then i pull ahead at a fairly constant rate.

I am so happy about what this car can do. Although i know i probably would have gotten killed from a dead stop, the s2000 can hold its own once its moving. My first v8 win and does it feel good!!!!

Cliff Notes: Z28 instigates a race, my brain decides to take his bate. We race a couple of times from a roll, with same results each time. Even til about end of third, then i slowly by pull away at a constant speed. About a car to 1.5 cars ahead.

If it was a newer Z28, he is a very bad driver and you are a very good driver.

Good kill none the less.

Since it was a newer body style, it still may have been an LT1. With his description of the results, that would be more believable.

Yea, it would be hard to beleive that a S2000 would pull away from a LS1 on the freeway, most likely a LT1, but who knows, it could have been the worst driver in the world. Nice Kill.

Who cares if it was an LT1, still a V8 with more than 280hp. Beating an LT1 is still pretty impressive for a tiny NA 4-banger, I'd say. Not to forget that LT1 was a little modded, exhaust and whatnot. Otherwise, it would've been more.

Yeah, thats how i felt last night. Whether or not it was an LT1 or an LS1, that wasnt really my concern. I am just stroked in beating a V8 for the first time. I remember getting beat by them badly in my Integra. Now it feels good to be on the winning side. Thanks for the comments all!
