SO Im on the highway, this Blue GTO with dual exhaust (looked like 4inch piping)pulls up next to me and hits it, and lets off staring at me with his G/F in the car, he keeps on egging me on, which is fine but I wanted to tell the jackass to calm down and wait for a an opening. Just like that the light turns yellow we both make a nice effort to get the cars stopped. About a mile of straight road ahead and no one in site (Rt-9) in NJ. I bring the revs to around 3-4,000RPM's, light turns green I half ass ease the clutch out, basically being a big pussy and bogging the car, the f---n GTO is instantly a car ahead of me, I spin towards the top of 1st, once I get in 2nd I spin some more, get traction around 45-50, he is still 1 full car ahead, we keep the same distance through 3rd, as I come up on 80 or so MPH I go from 1 full car behind to probably my front bumper right by his rear PAX door, and the SOB Slams on his brakes!!!!!!!!!!!. So I guess I lost, because

1) I cant/too scared to launch my car, I guess I wont race from a dig
2) The SOB realized I was going to edge him out and win so he quit (at least he knew I was gonna win

Whats the best way to launch this thign without blowing up the rear? Even if I slowly engage the clutch when I go WOT in 1st, my tires break loose They are brand new tires too...... Maybe my car is just too beastly to race from a dig haha j/k the 237ft/lbs of Torque might be causing me to go through tires quicker then I woudl have liked

PS On a side note from a 50MPH run I embarrassed an 06 or so Mustang GT, He pulls next to me gives me the three honk thing, I waved him forward, he looked perplexed, I did it again and told him to go, he hit it I hit it and blew by the guy, It was rather comical.

Its not as hard on the differential to launch on the street vs at the drag strip since the track pavement is really sticky it puts so much stress on the differential. Rev her up till 6grand and keep it there till you gain traction, feather the gas so you dont just keep spinning, if you can launch and keep a steady 6000rpm youll catch traction right at vtec and just blow him out of the water. Takes some practice but its not as bad on the differential as you might think. All those horror stories you hear usually happen at the drag strip.

yup, a chase is a race. I have kicked myself numerous times for doing similar things. Make them race your race or dont race at all.

must have been an older model because i had my doors blown off by a GTO on the highway a while back. he let me get the jump 2 times and proceeded to walk me all the way up to 130 each time.
