Default Harrassed by a freakin MR2!!!!!

Other evening girlie-in-car roof down cruising on nice quiet back road saw a black MR2 closing fast in rear view. Feck. Dropped to 3rd and it. MR2 had some legs on me as it had approached and by the time I hit 80-90 it was making to pass. But the S2K kept on doin its thang and by 110 the MR2 had to pull back in. Feckin kept with me though .... What gives? Turns out (via local knowledge) that it was a MR2 with a turbo and specced up too. Quick car. Respect. And relief it was a turbo

MR2 turbos are no joke. Out of the box they are rapid enough to worry an S2000, but most have mods too (they respond well to tuning).

Why didnt you just let it past tho ?

the earlier revision mr2 turbo's had 220 bhp, the later 245bhp. 0-60's are 5.97 seconds and 5.5 respectively so they are plenty fast enough to give a s2000 a run for its money. with

Had a play with a G-reg (220bhp) MR2 Turbo on the weekend from the A41 / A4008 roundabout in Watford to B&Q. This is dual carriageway with a couple of roundabouts thrown in.

I knew they were quick (a friend of mine has the later 240bhp car). All the stories about the rear-end being unwieldy are true though. He got a better start from the first roundabout so I ended up sitting behind him. It was quite a sight following him through the roundabouts as he got the tail out on every exit (respect to his driving), the S just stuck and held its line through the roundabouts at the same pace. Seemed to have a lot of bodyroll too.

Pulled up next to him at the traffic lights afterward and had a quick chat. He said he had had a few bits tweaked but didn't go into detail.

It's all good fun!

Turbo cars & throttle steering are not to be mentioned in the same sentence.

Except the above.

the early (pre 91 cars) were very tail happy and 'rolly'. the later 92 onwards cars had much better, less tail happy handling. but the s2000 does handle much better. older mr2's tend to have crap tyres on which doesn't help.

Damn: when I posted the above, I stupidly (somehow) quoted the wrong quote............ I was really trying to reply to the comment above by M@verick:
