Default Have been challenged....

Just took delivery of '02 S2K and therefore is still stock...mods to come later.

Young guy saw me parked and challenged me. He has a few years old Integra with usual mods of cold air intake, exhaust, lowered suspension etc. He has added a VTEC that kicks in at 5K revs and a red line of 9500. Not sure what he does for the 1/4.

Anyway was wanting to get opinions on whether it is worth the effort for the challenge or wait till I get my mods added.

I think it'd be fun to see what that car can do against the S2k. Might as well race if you're into all that and see how you do.

You said that he added VTEC? Maybe he has LS/VTEC or B20/VTEC....so if he has a either setup without any other internal stuff, it'll be close. If he has internals, then he'll win. I'm also assuming he knows how to drive his car pretty well. I have a friend with a LS/VTEC setup, and couple with B20/VTEC setups.

I don't really know what to say, but it should be close. Also your car's brand spanking new. I wouldn't race at all if I were you until you completely break it in, and know how to drive it. If he has what I think he does, I think he'll win.

need more info, suffice it to say though that if you can drive well and practice your take-offs, unless he is FI, he will have a hard time beating you.

When you race, you win some and you loose some. When you win, you hold your head high and when you loose, you still hold you head high for being a good sport and you go home and make it faster for next time. If you wanna win all the time, pick on the civics (stock ofcourse because some modded one will smoke your a$$) and corollas. Just race for the heck of it, it's all fun. Don't turn down a challenge unless you wanna go home with a tail between your legs. Good Luck

You definitely want to race him before you hit the 500 mile mark. Your car is the strongest at this point. Once it has more miles on it, it just begins to die a slow death.

Oh yeah, it is always worth the effort. Even if you lose, you still get to beat on your car for 15-20 seconds. After all, that is why you bought it, isn't it?

You should win if he doesn't have any surprises up his sleeve. If you race him, mine as well dump the clutch and go all out too while you're at it.
