Hi from the UK
I've ventured onto this particular forum-didn't even know it existed until the other day
I am from Tony Blairs country-seen as most of you guys who post are from the States just tought I would introduce myself
A couple of Q's
1. speed limits, cameras etc- In the UK the powers that be are putting speed cameras up everywhere-do you have the same problem there? What punishments do you get if you are speeding? I would say, here, if you are doing 30mph over the posted speed limit you are likely to get banned
2. Are there a lot of drivers "up for it"? Street encounters in the UK are IMO few & far between- I've had the S for a year, and I reckon I have had less than 10 encounters, and only 2-3 serious ones
thanks

Hi AutoAviat
I am jealous of you guys-I'll give you the low down in the UK
we have a points system here-you start off with zero points. If you get more than 12 points on your licence you are banned-usually for a year
you'll ususlly get 3 points for; 5-15mph over the quoted limit, jumping a red light
you'll get 6 points for; 15-30 over the limit
points stay on your licence for 4 yrs
anything over 30mph over the limit then you are likely to get a driving ban and a fine-a ban from 2 weeks to 1 year.
A guy got jailed for 2 years (I think it was 2 yrs) for doing 140mph on his bike in a 60
speed cameras are in abundance (but at least they are not on freeways though)
Autoaviat-I would shoot them with a shotgun if guns were legal
good to read the stories on here-will hopefully post an "encounter" soon
