hit 269 kph yesterday....
was booting along on the 407 (VERY expensive toll highway in toronto, canada) yesterday...
speedo hit 269 before i shut it down.
269 kph equates to 165.5 mph - that's 10 (if 155) or 15 (if 150) mph more than the car is ELECTRONICALLY limited to.
so here's the question------> can the speedo be off by THAT much? or does the car really keep pulling until it can no longer do so mechanically (not electronically)?
i'm quite curious....
(btw, i had the hardtop on)
regards.

S2000 does not have any 'electronic speed limiter'. It's top speed is limited simply by the power and aerodynamics. What that means is that if you find a long enough downhill strech and you run the 6th gear all the way to redline then you'll be actually doing 269kph (275kph if you're bouncing of the rev limiter - that is if the rev-limiter is at 9,200rpm).
S2000 cannot reach any higher speed than that because the gearing does not allow it to ... though there's no actual 'limiter'.

What revs were showing on your tacho when your speedo was showing 269kph? If you know, you can work out how much speedo error you have but 15kph at those speeds is not unheard of.

hi all,
yes, it was a little downhill as i hit that speed - i had it floored going UP a slight incline and carried a lot of momentum as the grade became downhill.
it was a rush that's for sure.
question: is the car more aerodynamic with the hardtop on? i would assume so, but i don't know.....
