Ok I don't hate Honda's that title is just to get people to read this. I just don't understand why all these people want to race so they buy civic's. HONDA'S are well made and girls look good driving civic's, but why do you buy a civic put a muffler on it and think youre badass people should realize civic's are not made for speed, what is it 98 hp stock. S2000's on the other hand are badass and are worthy of racing, although I have never lost to a Honda in my old Firebird or my Stealth. Im sure it will happen sooner or later. Someone just try to help me understand the whole Civic thing, and if you disagree with me let me know. Jeff

 

I think you've come to the wrong place for an explanation for ricing Civics. Maybe you should try trolling elsewheres.

 

In all honestly, I do know of a couple of Civics that run high-12's, low-13's completely NA! I'm not saying that every Civic can do this, but I think it proves the potential of the car! To the owners' credit, they don't have 'just a muffler' and have poured a lot of work into their cars...but the looks on people's faces when they get schooled by a Civic is priceless! And yes, I've been schooled by these Civics!

 

I agree I have also seen really really fast civic's at the track, I just don't understand why you would spend all the $ to make them fast when you can buy a lot faster car for the same price, that might already have a turbo so it would be cheaper to fix up. If you want a fast car for cheap start out with a first gen talon or Eclipse those are fast. And I am not in the wrong place honda owners are the only ones that understand what they do, I like the look of some civics Im not dissing the car just the people that think there fast. If you don't care about speed and just want the car for looks and getting poon more power to you, I have no beef w/you

 

Hey Shamu.... I noticed you have Iridium sparkplugs, I am thinking about gettin them, because they are suppose to add like 15 hp. Did you notice a gain when you put them on? Also where did you get them and for how much. Thanks Jeff

I don't understand why you should be 'dissing' folks who think Civic's are fast...I mean you just agreed that there is definite potential in the car! As for going with a 'turbo' car that's 'fast' from the start -- well, let's just not go there....the discussion around this issue could be it's own entire message board! A few cons that come to mind include lag (yes, I know there's ways around this for more $), reliability, engine life, consistency of power delivery etc.

Who told you that Iridium plugs produce 15 horses? I'd like to meet him cuz I have this prime swamp-land that I'm willing to let go at a bargain! To get a better understanding of what Irid. plugs do, I suggest doing a search as this topic has been discussed quite a bit.
