Ok, hate to sound stupid but I bought an S2K about a month ago and just can't get people to leave me alone wanting to race.

This is my first manual transmission so I am just now getting comfortable driving it normally.

How do you jump off the line? Once I get it going I can do all the other gears just by flooring it and shifting before redline.

Also, how do I catch up to a faster car that zips past me when I'm going thirty-five, just cruising along?

Questions might be elementary but you are speaking to a novice manual transmission driver. Any advice would be appreciated. I guess that learning how to beat people in races would be important so I don't embarrass other S2K owners by giving the wrong impression.

Downshift!!!

In a automatic when you jump on it the auto downshifts to 3rd, 2nd, or 1st depending on your speed and throttle position.

At 35 try second gear. I think 35 is a bit too fast for 1st but I may be wrong.

Also learn how to match RPM's well and make sure you stick each one of those shifts. If you miss a shift, or grind 1-2 your gonna lose, not to mention causing damage to the car.

Ok, but how do I jump off the line? Do I rev up the engine and then let the clutch out while I have the gas depressed? Floor it after that?

In my automatic I just held the brake and the gas down at the same time and released the brake when I wanted to jump off the line.

Thanks.

How do you miss a shift and also how exactly do you match RPMs?

well, if this is your first manual tranny car, I'd strongly suggest just getting used to it first. Until it becomes second nature, then try the new stuff like double clutching, rev matching, launching, downshifting, heel-toeing, clutchless shifting, powershifting...etc...

Most importantly, enjoy the car!

Well, I have practiced in normal driving and, while I haven't mastered automatics, I feel comfortable with what I'm doing.

I just don't have the knowledge on HOW to do some of these things, especially the launch.

So, if somebody can explain how to luanch off the line I would appreciate it very much. =)
