Default How do you launch an automatic car?

Hi Street Racers,

I know how to launch manual shift cars but how do you launch automatics? Do you shift to Neutral first and then rev to 6.5K (suppose we have an auto S2K) and then shift to Drive? Or the best you can do is just floor it when it is shifted to Drive?

Torque launch. Step on the gas but the brake too at the same time. Moderate throttle until green light. Then let go of the brake and press the gas for WOT.

I think?

Cheers,

Bryan

What Mr Kim said, but be sure you do not have traction control on or it will absolutely kill you.

how high you bring the rpm's up to depends on your tc/stall/str and of course traction.

If you can get good traction, you want to bring your rpm's up to the point right before your wheels start to spin while standing on the brake. This is usually your stall speed or a little below.

How long will your automatic tranny last if you keep doing this?

depends on how well built the tranny is.

I'm not worried with mine. It's not that rough.
