You're in luck...I've been selling camcorders (among other things) for almost 2 years now, so I know a bit about them.
One thing you really need, since you're planning on posting these on the web, is a digital camcorder. The one that I would recommend for you is a JVC GRDVL510U. It's goes for about $699.99. I know thats the top end of your price range, but for the features it offers, its the one to go with. It has a USB hookup which will work with almost any computer, and FireWire if you want to do serious editing. If will give you the best quality next to Sony and the professional digital cameras (IE $2000+). The Sony's are a bit better, but are MUCH more expensive. But this JVC is one of the most popular ones we sell, and is the one I would get. I know they carry it at Circuit City (where I work), and I would recommend going and checking one out if you have CC's up there. Please be nice to the salesperson and don't spend too much time with him if you go, unless you are ready to buy, cause we work on commission.
I'm sure this will get moved from this forum, and I'll forget about it, so just send me a PM if you have anymore questions.

Just kidding Blake. I too have served time at CC (I put in 7 years at 0597). Working there was one of my main motivations for graduating college and getting out of retail.
You guys still get that fat discount on merchandise? Oh no, I promise I will only buy stuff for myself........
Brian
Its fun. I have only experienced one store, and am about to get a feel for this other, so I don't know if its the same everywhere, but its generally very relaxed, at least on the sales floor. Working on commission allows much more freedom and less bossing around. Its much better than best buy, though. They give you a lot more responsibility, plus the discounts are good. I think they just now started giving cost on CD's and DVD's as well.
But I do have to say, I couldn't work in customer service. I think I'd hit some people in the face. Customers AND employees.
