It was bound to happen!

This is what happens when you put a street racer in an Insight.

I was cruising to dinner last night, it was glen5839's birthday, when this '96 (guessing) Accord comes flying up behind me, and gets right next to me and matches speed. Now, if I were in the S2000, this would all make sense, it happens all the time, and I know how to "handle" it...but I was in the 3-cyl Insight! I looked over, wondered what this guy was on, and went back to maintaining my steady, efficient, 50 MPH cruise. I didn't pay much attention to the guy as he and I went through a few green lights. As we've cleared the main strip of road/lights and come upon an opening, the Accord starts rocking back and forth in my peripheral vision. I look over, and say to my passenger, "What is this guy doing?...I think he wants to go."

I put the car in 'S' mode, which is for better acceleration/passing, and jammed it to the floor. The CVT revs to 5,500 RPM immediately and just stays there. I started gaining on him, and he matched my acceleration. Slowly, I had put about half a car on him...then a car. I was laughing, "Haha, I'm racing in the Insight!" As I start to get into the 80 MPH range we start going up a steep hill. Even the CVT couldn't help me here. The guy ended up catching up, passing me, and cutting in front of me (how typical). My passenger, looking in the direction of the Accord, says, "Good for you, you moron...you beat a 3 cylinder Insight."

Woo, that was fun.

There goes that "EGO" thing again. When are you going to put the VAFC on the Insight? I've heard you can get at least 2-3 HP with that thing calibrated properly.

BTW, do you get paid for each post? S2ki should offer you a percentage of some amount for each time your threads are viewed. Some of your stories are actually fairly good reading.

I believed your story until you mentioned going up a hill. Everyone knows there are no steep hills in Houston
