Well I will admit I dont know much about domestics but I would think a newer mustang gt with a supercharger would not get beat by 6 car lengths to 100. I would think we would fair better in the stook. Just thinking out loud but a s/c s200 against a vette I would hope would be pretty close though i still would give the vette the nod. Can you explain to me how this happened/was it older mustang. what mods do the vette have on it tc

The mustang was a 5.0 fox body style. I think they start with something like 240 hp and with the blower and other little things he did, he was up around 350-380 hp or so. It makes sense since he weighs much more than I do and I have right around that much HP as well (just intake/exhaust work).

I raced a new GT with a lot of work in it (internals, bolt'ons, supercharger). He ate me, but he runs 11's in street trim. This guy had a lot of money in his car. He also floated a valve while we were racing, but he won. But I drove my car home

I've only had one chance to run a C5, at first he didn't even take me seriously. I kept messing with him but he wouldn't go, I then sped up a bit and was cruising about 2-3 car lengths in front of him. I guess he decided he was going to show me what domestic power was about He dropped the hammer at 80 MPH from a few car lengths behind me. I waited for him to fly by then I followed suit. I was right on his butt up to 135 MPH or so, then we hit traffic. I don't think that was the result he expected.

From what I can tell a SC S2000 will stick pretty even with a C5 from a roll. The C5 is much easier to launch than our car, so there's an advantage there.

Noooooo..... the Fox body Mustangs are rather light. That's why they do so well at the track, most weigh around 3100-3200 lbs without gutting them. I talked with a guy last week at Englishtown (he was tuning for last weekends NMRA event at Atco) and his '88 vert GT weighed a hefty 3300 lbs with a full interior, blower, BAD ASS cage, etc. Still ran 9.50s so who cares how much it weighed!! Even if he had a better power to weight ratio than you, I would assume that since he is so new to that car he has no idea how to drive.

What I want to know is... what could he possibly do in 15 minutes that could be considered "hook up his supercharger"??

I'm guessing it was a belt change. Since it really didn't make too much of a difference, maybe he just changed the pulley and belt. That's a pretty easy job that could be done in 15 minutes.

Either way, it wasn't a matter of him having a better PW ratio. He was never pulling on me. We shut it down at a tree and he said he was doing about 107 and I was at about 125, so if he had more power he would have "trapped" higher than I would. That's a significant difference. He even had 3:55's in while I'm only at 3:10's.

He did take the sub box out of the back before we raced though.

Actually, I have an auto with the performance axle (which is 3:15's). I got to 3:10 (effective gear ratio) by changing the tire size (295/35/18). I actually have a set of 3:42's (from an M6, it's the only gear that is offered for a M6 corvette) sitting here in my room. I'm waiting for my torque converter first before I install them though.

My tire change dropped my trap speed by about 1-2mph. I sure can hook up now though

A pulley change is pretty easy to do on a fox body. I have a friend with supercharged C3 that changes his in about 10-15 minutes. It's like an instant 50hp
