i get many stares and compliments too, but i really dislike it when people ask "how much?" or something like that. what do you guys say? i just say "not much" or something else stupid like that. *sigh*

the best compliment to date: my gf and i are trying to park, a young couple holding hands walks by my car and the girl YELLS "DAMN, NICE CAR!!!" and the dude got REAL pissed off and they started to argue. of course, my gf smiled and i just rolled out!!

 

oh yeah, my worst one....i stopped by college park MD after UMD won the basketball national title, to buy my gf a UMD throw rug. i pull up, get out and the salesman walks over to my car and says, "wow, that car is awesome. how much did you pay for it? what do YOU do for a living, you look very young...or did your MOMMY (a bit sarcastic) buy it for you?" i said, i'm in the IT field and work very hard for my money. it's not as expensive as it looks.

then i proceed to haggle for the throw rug, a shirt and two hats (had lots of goodies i didnt' see from the road). the guy looks at me and says, "dude, you come in here, driving that car and you expect me to cut you a deal??? i dont' think so, the price is what it is." he seemed really annoyed. i said, "so if i came in here with a beat up stationwagon, you'd haggle with me???" he said, "probably". WTF? i ended up buying it all, but i'm sure i got shafted.

arnelr21....man, i know what you mean. i'm OLD too (or so i feel) but i look fairly young. i still get carded for drinks! anyways, i NEVER underestimate how much people make, because it's not always about the company or position "title"....some people just work very hard and they EARN every penny (unlike my boss...ughhh)! forget about those people, just work hard KNOWING that you deserve everything that you got! but i do admit i wouldn't mind having a break from the work and maybe get a suga momma for a bit!

 

Why the HELL would you buy something from that guy after he treated you like that?!?!? I would have dropped the stuff on the floor and walked out. There is no excuse for someone (especially someone in sales) to pull off that kind of petty, jealous bullshit. Damn that makes me angry.

I haven't been asked that particular question yet but the response that always comes to mind is "Why can't you afford this car? I worked hard, why can't you?" It's not like jobs are allocated out and you have to be content with what you've got. Don't like your job? Get a new one. Need more skills? GET THEM! Nobody is going to give you a handout, it's up to you to make it work.

Alright, sorry I went off on an off-topic rant there. It just bothers me that most of the younger generation just expects to have nice things and then sits around all day wondering how come everyone else is getting good jobs and nice cars.

my only excuse...i knew my gf wanted it really bad, i wanted to give it to her that day and i was REAL pressed for time. you got some good points though. the next time that sh*t happens, i will stay strong, tell him to piss off and never mention to my gf ( ) that i saw it. yeah, i was a bit peeved with that incident! i KNEW i was getting shafted, but like you said (somewhat), i had the money on me, i can definitely afford it without any problems because i did bust my *ss off in school, got a good job and get paid the benefits of it. BUT.... yes, it was definitely a matter of principle and i should have walked.
