Default Mazdaspeed6 vs S2k

So i get off of work and Im about to join the highway when I see this S2k in front of me. It is rainy and of course I have no desire to race, nor the s2k. I go my way only to realize the S2k is driving along heading to the same direction, even when I get off the ramp onto another highway. We had traveled around 15miles and it was dry & sunny territory. I saw he was behind me and that something was up. I have never raced an S2k before so I was anxious to do so. I sort of stepped on it (still in 6th gear) getting onto the highway to go fast just to see if he bit...but he stayed back. Crap. oh well. Last thing I know I see him coming at me a bit faster,

I slow down to about 70mph to see if he's going to get next to me but he just passes me doing 85mph or so. I guess its my turn to bite. I catch him and get next to him about 90mphs or so. He looks at me and smiles and at this point I dont know if I should wait for him to punch it or for me to honk or if he's waiting for me to ......boom. he punches it as I am trying to figure things out lol. I was waiting for it and was in gear (5th gear) and responded quickly.

from a 90mph roll (I know retarded but it wasnt a setup race hehe), he takes off and jumps me by almost a rear bumper, I slowly catch up at the end of 5th, I shift into 6th and pulled 3/4th of a car in between his front bumper and my rear by the time I was in 5.3K in 6th (redlines is at 6.5K).

Dont know the speed. I know 5.8K in 6th is 138mph in my car. Shifting from 5th to 6th is at 120mph, so I am guessing I mustve stopped at 130mph?

My car has a short ram intake and boosting 17psi (15.6psi stock).

The s2k looked stock. Although it sounded pretty loud, but then again since yall have to high rev, those vtecs are pretty loud stock.

the guy was a good sport and gave me the thumbs up and I returned the favor. The rims looked like an 05 model (sort of saw them when we were cruising at slow speeds)

it only has 20 more horse, and weighs a lot more. So from a low speed roll, a S2000 should be able to take a stock Speed6. But if it's modded, then who knows.

to be honest, the MS6 pulls high 13s easier than the S2K does (not saying the s2k doesnt) cuz of the AWD.

AWD is more conistent while as RWD requires more of things to be on your side like the floor temp, tire temp/pressure, driver mod (to get a good launch and spin as less as possible), etc...I would give the edge to the MS6 from a dig and even a bit from a roll.

btw, the ms6 has 274tq and 280tq for those who are wondering.

Stock for Stock and S kills the 6. I've done it...it was no contest.

how did you race? I for one, know the S2k would win a 20mph roll because 1st-2nd shift in the MS6 is really bad. A 40mph and up would be something to see. My friend with an MS6 raced one and the s2 pulled rear bumper to half a car at the beginning and then he hung even the rest of the way.

As far as a dig, its driver's race, both car run around the same times. But to me, the MS6 has the AWD consistency on his part. Now, since the MS6 is turbo, if the temp is above 80degrees, then its starts to affect it and might become more sluggish, but quite the opposite if they are less.

I raced a MS6 last year from 40 rolls. He had intake, 3"exhaust and upgraded top mount intercooler and I got him by 1.5 cars once and 1 car the second time. We did 40-145

I use to own an 06 MS6 and now own a 06 S. I enjoyed the MS6 and found it to be a great GT car. Handled great for its 3600 pound weight and had decent power. Power delivery on the MS6 was kind of strange however. Down low, I found it to be quite sluggish, but around 2500rpm to about 5500 had very usable power. Above 5500rpm, it just simply ran out of breath, and it was very noticeable and very annoying. To be honest, I think a well driven S would beat the MS6 from a dig or a roll. The key there is well driven. The midrange power of the MS6 would help correct a drivers error from a bad start or from a bad choice of gear when racing from a roll. At the time my wife and I had the MS6, she was driving the speed and I had a 05 stage 2 STI. It wasn't even funny what my STI did to the MS6...from any speed. I have only had the S for two weeks now and I am getting use to driving a NA rwd drive car. Quite a change for me
