With the latest rash of GT posts and encounters, this should really be a nice change of pace...

I'm on the way to the store to get some cokes tonight, and I pull up at this stop light and look to my left. Two lanes over is an early '70's era red Mustang with white stripes. It said 350 G.T. on the side, and had one hell of an lopey idle. Original bullet wheels and all. My roommate, Azrael, and I sit there hoping the light doesn't turn green for a while so that can sit that and drool.

A few seconds later, a new GT with the new bullet wheels pulls up in the turn only lane and barely glances over at the 350. Talk about looking bad for a Mustang owner...no respect for his great, great granddad!

So when the light's about to turn green, the 350 rolls up a little, and I hear his revs go up. I was excited...

The light turns green, and he starts to roll out at a quicker than usual pace, so I match up and then he keeps getting quicker and quicker, so I put the accelerator to the floor, and almost at the same time, I hear his car open up to an enormous roar and just started to walk away...Took him about 3 seconds to gain a couple cars on me...All I could do is close my mouth and comment about how badass that was.

Even as an S2000 owner, I love the sound of an old V8 with massive cams and virtually no exhaust going all out. It was amazing...

I love the old muscle car sound, it's just sooo badass... If they're not modded though, they are a bit slow by today's standards... Case in point, the other day I pulled up to a light behind a late 60's Camaro (blue with a white racing stripe).. I didn't know if it was stock or not, but I threw him a rev anyway... I was behind him and on the green he punched it. I followed suit, but like a dumbass, I missed 2nd gear... I finally got it in, and by 3rd I was right behind him, and in 4th I was walking on past... I waved as I went by. Nice car, but it looked faster than it was...

PS There is also something to be said of an S2K with an Injen Intake and Neuspeed exhaust as it comes on the cam (cough*Kwando*cough)... Pretty damn badass as well...

Yeah motor trend compared the gti 1.8t the honda civic si and the ford focus svt and sentra se-r v.....all where faster than some stock muscle cars...i forget what muscle cars but they where no slackers...goes to show...technology rules! Also the biggest dogs on the pLANET ARE MID 70'S 350 VETTES.....SUCH DOGS......all bark very little bit......mid 8's to sixty...ouch......but i love the growl !ok i looked it up
the cars where all 1969 ....ford mustang mach 1 351.....camaro rs351....javelin sst 343 firebird 350.....cougar xr-7 351
the new modern cars eaisly beat there 0-60 times and matched or beat there 1/4 mile times...braking and handeling there was nothing to compare...as we all know....but the performance numbers are interesting
