Default my friday night...

hi im igs from perth, west australia
my mates and i were out friday nite, this was how the night went...

we were on loftus st heading towards subiaco (3 lane road)

left: me (s2k)
middle: jay (supra)
right: pb (200sx)

bit a revving then lights go green then we all launch (i gave it a fair bit of shit and my rear end was sideways thru the whole intersection)

little did we know an undercover cop was approaching from newcastle st (i believe from the side i was on, so they would have seen me sideways thru for a bit)

so we keep givin it shit thru the gears, but i notice PB drops off, look in my rear view thinking, nah that car isnt PB, looks a bit suss tho, wonder if its a cop

so i back right off, jay is alongside me lookin at my face gone all white as i notice a siren on top of the car behind us, next thing the blue light starts flashing

we both stop in the middle of the road, cop shouts over loudspeaker "BOTH OF YOU PULL OVER TO THE LEFT NOW"

both pull over and get out of our cars and walk up to cops.

detective 1: you know each other
igs: no (yeh right)

detective 1: so wat are these things worth
igs: umm, wat u mean, how much i paid or how much brand new
D1: mate, dont make this difficult
igs: about 40 thousand
D1: and you?
jay: 22

in the mean time PB drives by un-noticed

D1: you are aware of the hoon laws in place (these laws mean cops impound ur vehicle for street racing)
igs & jay: yes
D1: so both your cars are seized, (looks over to 2nd detective) and that was aggrevated wasnt it?
D2: yes it was.
D1: ok so you both automatically lose your licences, we charge you with dangerous driving as well, take you with us, fingerprint you, and you spend the night in lockup

D2: what do you do for a living, are you both professionals?
jay: yes we are both professionals (wrong answer jay!)
D2: what do you do
jay: im an engineer
igs: project logistics
D1: wait a second, what did you say (looks at jay) how did you know that?
D2: no he just said he was an engineer

(f**k that was close)

D2: we are detectives, not traffic police, we have moved on from that, we have to deal with rapes and murders, not idiots like you.

D1: what does yours run quarter mile
igs: i believe 14s or so, around mid 14
D1: are you aware they hold proper drag racing
igs: yes at the motorplex
D1: i suggest you both take your cars down there in the future instead of the streets

D2: you have put us in a difficult position. its double demerits, there is a police blitz happening, cops are everywhere, we can take your cars right now. think about what you are doing, you both seem like smart enough guys

D1: your cars have both been noted, if you are pulled over again this easter, you will have your cars taken

D1: did you know the guy in the other car who was racing you
igs: no
D1: because he was racing me until he saw i was a cop.
D2: treat this as a warning, dont do it again

igs & jay: thanks, good nite

Made perfect sense. Just that this is the street encounters forum so a lot of people aren't really interested in knowing that street racing is illegal and dangerous.

PS. nice story and love the bit about the engineer part ;-)

because i lied to the cop saying that we didnt know each other

then jay said we were BOTH professionals (how was he meant to know that i wonder)

the 1st detective picked up on it, but then the 2nd detective shut him down by accident thinking he was asking what he did

Street racing is very dangerous, but so is skydiving, and volcanic explorations. All of which are lots of fun. You do so at your own risk.

I wish they would just build a street where people could race. It would eliminate a lot of cop chaces. Or it would be nice if tracks stayed open 24/7.
