My S2K VS 350Z

exactly!!! 350's weight so much more... the s weighs about 2800 give or take some...
they got 47 more hp with 500 more lbs.
my buddy works at nissan and he has an 01 and he messes with them all the time to and from work, and the 350's get so pissed off that he pulls.
It's so funny, people automatically think if the car has more power, then it's faster. You should see the look on everyones faces when you pull away from a car that has about 50 hp more...
Their exact words..."but I have more power than you... why were you pulling?" They are so clueless about the weight of the car having anything to do with it, and it's hard to convince someone too. All they want to think is.. "I have more hp than you, so my car is faster." They will learn some day...

I love my S, and am not too fond of the new Z, but the power to weight ratios are only slightly in favor of the S... Considering on top of that the Z has more torque, I think they are pretty evenly matched... it all comes down to driver. It will go back and forth, S beats Z, Z beats S for a while I'm sure.... Now the new convertable I'm not so sure about, being that the weight increase will further disrupt the PtoW ratio for the Z
My friends Track model seems alot faster once we get to around 100. He just pulls away, heaven forbid you have the top down, then it gets really ugly.

i said to PM me if you have Q's. no my 12 sec. ride is a 60 karmann ghia with the jug on it. no big, i posted the challenge and am not afraid to lose, im giving Z's the benefit of the doubt on maybe all who buy them cant drive, but i highly doubt it. so if someone who is in vegas wants to go play, im here. i will tell you this, and many here can vouch for this, how many times have you wasted, i mean not a little, ... bad. a GT mustang with mods, or an aspirated cobra 96-98? many times, i raced a buddy of mine in his 97 cobra with my rsx from a roll 3 times. by 5th i had 3 cars on him. that car had just over 300 stock. so what makes you think a Z is this world of S2000 owning machine? nah sorry man. im not convinced. until a Z just wipes me, not by half car. im talkin what you people talked *OWNAGE* *coughs* then ill keep up my smackin. cause i like to race and smack talkin is fun. hope not to upset anyone. *tippytoes out of the room* thank you drive through.

LOL, talking trash is fun. I never once said that the Z is "an S2000 owning machine". I simply said that most people are of the opinion that its a drivers race. You sound like you are a cut above the average driver, unless you got some kind of magic RSX-S. Good luck finding someone in Vegas to race. You should post the challenge on MY350Z.com, I'm sure someone would be willing to accomodate you. Good luck and be safe.

350Z = 3197 lbs. / 287 hp = 11.14 #/hp
S2000 = 2800 lbs. / 240 hp = 11.67 #/ hp
The power to weight advantage goes in favor of the 350z.
Gear ratios (these numbers are gear * final drive ratio):
....350z......S2000:
1:.13.42......12.85
2:..8.22.......8.38
3:..5.75.......6.07
4:..4.50.......4.76
5:..3.54.......3.98
6:..3.45.......3.33
FDR: 3.538.....4.10
Gearing is in favor of the S2000.
Personally I would favor the 350z in any race against the S2000 (stock vs. stock). If you've ever seen the torque curve of the 350z it totally falls off in the upper rpms which causes the horsepower to plateau. Where as the S2000 torque curve is pretty flat which means the horsepower steadily increases. What this means is that the 350z has much more power under the curve even though its power to weight is very close to the S2000. This is just examining the numbers....
In the real world both seem to be the same speed. I've had one encounter with a S2000 (I have an EVO) and one encounter with a 350z. Both races were deadeven up to ~80 mph. I do not know anything about either car so it's possible that one, both, or neither had any modifications.
