I love it when it warms up because things start to get fun again. 2nd race in as many weeks, forgot what it was like. Anyways... rolling home from work I get behind a Ford Lightning (didnt realize it at first) and I couldnt get beside it. Finally... a few lights later I get beside him and notice the badge and for a few miles we speed up and slow down on each other. Eventually traffic was making it look like we wouldnt be able to get a run at it so I decide to turn off the road i was on. well he gets behind me and turns the same way... we end up getting a light with both of us in the front, I look over the passenger points straight ahead and I nod. I knew that in order to make it a close race Id have to launch my baby (which Ive never done before out of fears of blowing the diff) so I rev up to 3-4k and roll out the clutch easy when the light turns green. He got a big jump on the start by half a car length but finally I get into Vtec and i caught up to the bumper, then I really reeled him in quick enough to make me think he let off the gas or something, so i let off but nope he was still going!! So i get back on it but at that point he was already a good car length or more (give or take) ahead and hit his brakes. We were at another light but he was turning and I was going home. The passenger rolls down his window and I roll down mine. He tells me good run and asks me if I had done any mods, and I told him I was stock still. The driver of the lightning said he just bought it last week and it was still stock and planned on doing some mods. Then I see a kid sitting in the middle of them!!!!! I got kinda pissed about that. But the lights turned green and we gave each other a thumbs up and went our ways. I gotta work on my launching!!

 

You gotta dump that clutch. Don't be a wuss. I've got over 300 clutch dumps and they were done on R compound race tires. The diff can take it. I think it's the hard shifts once you're rolling that kill it.

I don't condone street racing.

 

Ill try dumping the clutch sometime soon, especially before I buy a new clutch, im sure with 100k on MY01 the clutch could use a replacement. Atleast new fluid. I've always been told to feather the clutch when launching because thats the stresspoint on the diff. Damn 300 launches and alls well? If you dont condone street racing does that mean you dump it on the strip or something?

 

ive done a lot of launches and spin the tires and everything, and my lsd is working like a champ. ive only got 30k miles on it, but the clutch will wear before the lsd does. ill probably need a new clutch in another 10k.

good kill i beat a lighing from a roll at about 25,they pretty damn fast for a truck.

 

Well in stock form I've beaten 2 lightnings with my S2000, but I've also been worked by a few modded ones...

Stock vs Stock the lightning and the s2000 are pretty close, but look what happened to my buddies GSR integra and my S when we bumped into a few modded One's!!!

Yea, to be honest, i was kinda scared to race the Lightning when beside him at the light. Not because of losing, but because theyre so damn HUGE! I would NOT want something like that for the twistys.... straight line only for that contraption.
